Almost by Lewis Capaldi

I don’t think it is a secret that I’m becoming a fan of Lewis Capaldi’s music, which says a lot for me because I haven’t found an artist I can listen to non-stop and still find a verse or word that makes me think, feel or remember something. When I remember stuff, it’s a gamble if it’s a happy or sad memory, and I’m never aware of which one I’m going to get, which can be a trigger to my mental health. I, of course, can’t see the coming of.

Lewis’s newest release, which was released a few days ago, is called Almost, and I won’t lie, even the title makes me think because I, like everyone, have had a lot of ‘almost’. I almost got my dream job, I almost found love, and I learnt that all of it is a guide afforded by this thing called life, to each different, but when we put our heads on the pillow, we are all the same human. The verse ‘Talking circles ’round the room’ made me tear up for whatever reason.

Almost Lyrics:

Standing back but on the edge
Wide awake but laid in bed
The pain is real but I pretend
That all the hurting has an end

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
No way to live, no way to die
Done all I can, all I do is try to get through the daylight

I swear to God I’m almost alright
I only think about you all the time
I almost never fall asleep wishing you were here with me
And I promise I’ve completely let you go
Almost

Talking circles ’round the room
Like I’ve got a point to prove
Every word except the truth
To everybody else but you

Done all I can, all I do is try to get through another night

I swear to God I’m almost alright
I only think about you all the time
I almost never fall asleep wishing you were here with me
And I promise I completely let you go

I swear to God I’m almost okay
I only talk about you every day
It almost never cut me deep when I had to watch you leave
And I promise I completely let you go
Almost
Almost
Almost

I swear to God I’m almost alright
I only think about you all the time
I almost never fall asleep wishing you were here with me
And I promise I’ve completely let you go
Almost

October

Will my mind hold to

To your messages

When you aren’t there

And the pain is raw and sober

And the leaves start

To leave their home in October

Ready for the final goodbye

Alex
