If someone had dared me to name the first book I read in July, I would have lost, since it is only thanks to my June wrap-up that I know. There were a few series I would love to continue, but I only have one of each and don’t have access to the rest, like the Essentially Sweet Romance series by Elysian Hunt and the Val Fremden Mysteries series by Margaret Lashley. I loved Cooper (the pit bull in The Lemon Gunman, and yes, the dogs are part of the reason why I want to read the Essentially Sweet Romance series so bad).
I have two 5-star books: Coming Home by Sawyer Cole Hobson, a trans memoir, and Wombat Waiting by Katherine Applegate, a novel in verse about a fictional dog. I will try to get to Heartstopper: Volume 6 by Alice Oseman (which I didn’t realise is out already). Which, on second thought, I’m looking to see if the second novel in Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas is out; it looks like I have to wait until September for that one.
Outside of Readathin, which I made an announcement post about, and I’m proud of it since I haven’t done one in a year, as they are challenging to me even if it might not look like it. By the way, I have been good and have grabbed a ton of books this month; most of the ones I have got I’ve already read. I’m doing poetry month for two reasons. 1. When my thoughts start popping all over the place, I know it’s time to sit and write to reset myself. 2. I have things that no longer can stay undone or half done, and they need time. The power cuts we are experiencing are scary; not only are they happening during heat waves, but I’m also currently bedbound and guess what my bed needs to move electricity, or I have to stay in the same position, which my body isn’t a fan of.
