All My Love by James Arthur

This week, I only need to work two days, partly thanks to a public holiday. May 1st is Workers’ Day here, and last week, I worked an extra day, so this week, I only have to work two days. I feel lucky for that since I’m in pain. I’m not saying this to mean or ask for pity; I’m writing about it since it is related to the song I picked today. All My Love by James Arthur was most likely written for a lover, but I took another meaning from the lyrics, and I want to share my version, which is about self-love and how we give everything to everyone to the point that we don’t recognise ourselves.

The first verse says, ‘I had a feeling, me and you might’ve been the same sign.’ My question is this: What if that person across the street is ourselves? Would we give the same love so freely? It’s a complex thought for me because there’s no way we are harsh on others as much as we are harsh on ourselves. This is a reminder to you and me that by breaking yourself down, nothing good is achieved.

All My Love by James Arthur Lyrics:

I had a feeling me and you might’ve been the same sign
I had a feeling that our sun and our moon are aligned
Did we meet before here or in another life?
Yeah, I got a feeling you are my reason

I was swept away when Mercury fell into retrograde
And there’s no escape, so accept your fate
I’m forever in debt to your serenade

You can take all my love
I hope that it’s enough
Oh, my love
You’re the one I will trust
For the rest of my life
I will fight for us
With all my love

Nothing ever comes easy, but with you it’s a walk in the park
Like you really see me, like you see all the signs in the stars
I still hear a faint echo of my chequered past
But you put me on blast, and I know it won’t last
So long as you turn around and show me that sweet, sweet ass

You can take all my love
I hope that it’s enough
Oh, my love
You’re the one I will trust
For the rest of my life
I will fight for us
With all my love

With all my love
With all my love
With all my love
With all my love

You can take all my love
I hope that it’s enough
Oh, my love
You’re the one I will trust
For the rest of my life
I will fight for us
With all my love

Stranger In Me:

To me, you become a stranger.

Someone I should know

But I don’t

Like two things that should

Be moving in parallel

End up too far away

Disconnected, unable to recognise

The way of moving back

As a whole

That stranger being me again

Alex
