Symphony by Clean feat Zara Larsson

Going through the curse of the content creator, some changes will be coming in my life soon. On Friday, I told myself that I would finish the posts for June. As you can see, that didn’t happen, and I’m feeling pretty guilty about it. Even if, in reality, if I don’t post, no one would care, it matters to me. I googled music used for Pride Month, so unlike my typical new release music, I’m picking a song that’s 8 years old, not just for its lyrics, but also for its music video.  The song I’m talking about is Symphony by Clean Bandit. When I looked at the meaning behind the song, I didn’t find much outside of a love song between a woman and a man, or at least that’s what the articles I read said.

Which made me wonder if using a gay couple storyline was just for marketing’s sake. Whatever, it was meant to be. Here are some thoughts I had after re-watching it. I might be biased, but I feel that politicians are targeting trans people, and it’s not just the USA I heard that the UK are reversing some of their gender laws, especially in sports. You might be asking what this has to do with the video, because my mind goes to how this will affect the mental health of the trans community. I experienced being refused medical care, and it sends you into a black hole, which, God forbid, made me think of life expectancy due to people not being able to get the health care and support they need. My question is, is your judgment about how I feel about my body worth my life?

Symphony by Clean Bandit Lyrics:

I’ve been hearing symphonies
Before all I heard was silence
A rhapsody for you and me
And every melody is timeless
Life was stringing me along
Then you came and you cut me loose
Was solo singing on my own
Now I can’t find the key without you

And now your song is on repeat
And I’m dancin’ on to your heartbeat
And when you’re gone, I feel incomplete
So if you want the truth

I just wanna be part of your symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Will you hold me tight and not let go?

I’m sorry if it’s all too much
And every day you’re here, I’m healing
And I was runnin’ out of luck
I never thought I’d find this feeling
‘Cause I’ve been hearing symphonies
Before all I heard was silence
A rhapsody for you and me
(A rhapsody for you and me)
And every melody is timeless

And now your song is on repeat
And I’m dancin’ on to your heartbeat
And when you’re gone, I feel incomplete
So if you want the truth

I just wanna be part of your symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Will you hold me tight and not let go?

And now your song is on repeat
And I’m dancin’ on to your heartbeat
And when you’re gone, I feel incomplete
So if you want the truth

I just wanna be part of your symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Will you hold me tight and not let go?

Chosen Family:

You might choose not to love me.

My light is trying to dim.

By getting to the pain in my within

Not caring about me, a living being

Like a candle, you try to melt

To be no more

My advice to you

Do not underestimate my chosen family

And the power we give each other

Alex
