Pardon my language, but my blogging issue isn’t coming up with content or writing it because my mind has no filter for random ideas. Sadly, the changes made by WordPress can be a trigger. The only thing that stops me is the fear of judgment, which I’m trying to overcome. I have been in the bookish community for the last decade, if not more, but it took ages to comment on someone’s video. (I believe they are no longer active) However, it was the first time I truly felt part of a community. So here are some tips if you want to start a blog but haven’t taken the step yet.
Picking a platform:
It can be tricky if you don’t know much about social media; I would use the free trial each one gives, since it also depends on what you plan to blog about and how you plan to use it.
Find people in your niche:
Find the place that fits you; find the people who inspire you. The way I go with this is: if you don’t have time to comment on a post, use the like button. From having done this a fair bit, I can tell that if you show up for people, they do the same for you.
Asking questions and reaching out:
There is a question I love when writers/bloggers reach out to ask something or leave in the comments. Some people take this for granted, but unless you tell me you are, I might not know you are here.
Don’t give up:
If you don’t take anything I have said today, please think about it; it’s easier to quit than to wake up the next day and give it another go. For about 2 years of daily blogging, I stayed at 33 followers, but over time it moved into a different phase. Fast forward to now, I’m in the same phase I started with, but the only thing that might make me stop is my hands.
To everyone reading this, I wish you the best in your creative way.
