If you need a message, if music will get you when you need it, this is it. Back in November, I had one tough week. I was semi-diagnosed with my hand condition, so I needed time off from work since I had hospital appointments. I believe getting any news about your health will take a toll on you. So, I didn’t look at anything work-related until I started getting WhatsApp messages that one of my colleagues was sick, but I thought it was the ‘normal ‘ sick, like the flu. From the group chat, I thought the person was sending messages herself. It can’t be that bad, right?
The next day, I went to work, where I learned that my colleague and friend, in fact, had a heart attack, and things aren’t looking good, but I still had hope that she would recover and come back with us. A few hours later, everyone started coming out of their offices in tears. Then we were told to hang up the calls and turn off the laptops, which, in the five years I worked there, never happened. We were asked to go to a boardroom; all our teams were asked to go, which is rare.
Then I saw the CEO, and I knew that something big was up, so I started to think about what we messed up so badly that he’s here. We were told that she passed. The people I work with never saw me lose it that badly. To the point that they had to call my mum to come for me because I couldn’t. If you read my wrap-ups, you know I’m not having an easy time right now. So, when a song called Sue came up in my playlist, I saw it as a sign since my friend’s name was Sue.
