Holiday Fun Facts

I will be honest: I had a tough week, and instead of doing content or checking emails, I played on my phone, watched TV, and listened to books. I don’t understand why some people can’t let others live, whether it’s Christmas or not, but I can’t say more for now. I found some fun facts about the holidays, even if it isn’t what I had planned.

The first Christmas, going back to 336 AD in Rome

In Norway, there is a tradition of hiding their blooms to keep witches from stealing them. I wonder if they do the same with the cleaning robot?

The tradition of Christmas tree decorations dates back to the 16th century in Germany.

If you are the first person to find the pickle on the tree, you get a special gift in Austria.

A popular American tradition, kissing under the mistletoe, actually comes from Europe, ancient Scandinavia, to be exact.

The tradition of sending Christmas cards dates back to the 1840s, when J.C. Horsley designed the first Christmas card.

The idea of leaving cookies and milk for Santa Claus dates back to the Great Depression, as a way to teach children the lesson of giving to others.

The first holiday stamp was released in 1962; it had a wreath and two candles.

Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany, and from looking in history, we know that at some point, it was even made from real silver.

I know this post might be lacking, but I’m happy I managed one at all.
