Top Five Wednesdays/ Save From Fire

This post isn’t planned, but I got curious and checked out the prompt for this week in the Top Five Wednesday on Goodreads. The prompt sounded fun, so here is my list. Top Five Wednesday is now being taken over by the author Laura A Grace, and you can find the prompts in the Goodreads group.

Goodreads Blurb:

Three sisters. One inherited lodge. A charming Alaskan town with its own matchmaking moose. Tragedy brought her back, but love begs her to stay.

When Cadence Whitmore and her two sisters inherit the Sunset Ridge Lodge, their immediate plan is to sell it. They’re spread out all over the country, and not one of them is willing to move to Alaska to run an inn they haven’t visited in thirteen years.

But Cadence is the only sister who makes the mistake of visiting. The longer she’s in town—and around the kind and attractive caretaker, Ford Harris–the more she yearns to stay. Convincing her sisters to keep the lodge instead of selling it, however, might be an impossible feat.

Ford’s younger sister is the only family he has left, and he’d do anything to help make her dreams come true. It’s the single reason he agrees to the death bed wish of Patty Whitmore. If he can convince Cadence to keep the lodge, he’ll receive the money he needs to help put his sister through her dream college.

He never planned to fall in love with anyone ever again—especially not Cadence. He’s lost too many loved ones in his lifetime. Yet, he can’t deny how right they are for each other. But if she finds out the secret he’s been keeping, it might cost him everything.

Goodreads Blurb:

She’s built a firewall around her heart. He’s determined to crack the code. Hailstorms come with the territory in Austin, Texas. Having a hot guy to shelter with is a less frequent phenomenon. It must be the shock – or the hailstorm to the temple – that makes cautious technology consultant Alicia ask Jackson out. Minutes later, still reeling from his kind rejection, she walks into the biggest meeting of her career. And it’s just her luck that *he’s* there – Jackson, the sexy charmer. But he’s no longer charming; he’s madder than a rattlesnake that Alicia’s there to take over his project. But it’s Alicia’s job to turn around the project, even if Jackson thwarts her every move. Even if their late nights in the office are more about chemistry than code. Even when she teaches him to two-step and he kisses her under the stars. If anyone finds out Alicia and Jackson are more than colleagues, it’ll threaten not only the project but both their careers. He’s a genius. She’s the boss. Can they work together – without falling in love? Fall for these two rival programmers in this steamy, slow-burn, laugh-out-loud enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy featuring a straitlaced single mom, a tech genius who hides a secret under a playboy exterior, and way too much tequila. Set in up-and-coming Austin, it’s the first book in the Synergy Workplace Romance series and can be read as a standalone.

Goodreads Blurb:

El Glasse’s mother controls her life. What she does, who she dates, even what she’s allowed to say. El only has two ways of holding onto her freedom. One is her popular anonymous blog, hidden from Mama Glasse. The other is what she so often blogs about: her feelings for Riley, the girl who works at the ice cream parlor. Riley is fierce, free, and rides a killer motorcycle, and El cannot help but love her. But Mama Glasse can never find out about her sexuality—unless El is willing to rebel.

When El runs away, Riley feels responsible. She knows what it’s like to be alone, and she can’t deny her deep desire to learn El’s story. In a move she might end up regretting, she makes a devil’s bargain with Mama Glasse to hunt El down.

Riley isn’t trying to bring her home though, because she knows an evil spell when she sees one—a spell of fear and shame El is finally starting to break. This huntress might lose her own heart, but it’s a risk she’s willing to take.

Goodreads Blurb:

Technology complicates everything, including love.

Five years ago, Jo Harper did a bad thing. Dumped, injured, and in crippling debt, Jo did what any desperate woman with a PhD in psychology and above-average computer skills would: become an elite, undetectable online romance scammer. Now Jo and her team of four young women bring in enough cash to keep them securely afloat. Their targets? Married cheaters.

Jamie March, Bay Area royalty known as “The Conscience of Silicon Valley,” hates every aspect of online crime, especially those who defraud people. And when it appears that his brother is the victim of a sophisticated romance scam, he can’t stand idly by.

What’s weird though, is that when Jo and Jamie meet…they don’t hate one another. Not at all. He makes her laugh and feel alive again. She challenges his intellect like no other. But they can’t trust one another, right? And you can’t fall in love with someone you don’t trust—or can you?

Goodreads Blurb:

The Rally for US was meant to be a day of camaraderie and awareness. Instead, that crisp October morning turned into the bloodiest terror attack to strike the city of Boston in more than a decade.

In the wake of the attack, the New England Special Terrorist Division—NEST—turned to their most senior and capable agent, Alivia Morgan. She was unwillingly ripped from her home and family, but didn’t have a choice. Though she had no idea just how deeply personal the fight would become.

Now, it was up to her to find the extremists and stop another catastrophic blow that would drive the death toll higher. She was captured, alone, and armed only with her years of training and experience in Special Ops and the elite Army Rangers. Alivia quickly realized she was in a race against time as she struggled to escape with her life and stop the impending attacks. Could she do both?

I picked them on instinct, even if you might have seen them in the past on my blog.
