So I was going to do Growing Pains by Maria Mena. I feel everyone can relate to the topic of growing pains. It’s in this period that most people experience in this period. The body is doing a 360, trying to grow into adulthood, and that is just physical type. The reason why I didn’t go with that song is the post I made yesterday, talking about the pain tools I use to cope, both physical and mental, so I felt it would be too ‘depressing’ back-to-back. So I picked “Take Me Back” by Kygo & Max McNown.
I won’t lie, the first time I heard this song, I told myself I would have to listen to it twice since the beat of the music overcomes the lyrics. I had two different thoughts on the words. First, I thought of how many things we regret later on. For me, it’s at least one thing on a daily basis, and more likely more than that. The next thought was related to my first kiss and how I’m now in doubt if it was my first after all. We were at a pool, and we met a random Italian family. At the end of the day, the son who was my age kissed me on the corner of my lips. I remember staying up all night praying that I would see him the next day, but he decided to go fishing with his father instead, and there you have it.
Take Me Back lyrics:
I get to bed nostalgic every time I hear your name
Pull one or two drinks in me, it always goes the same
I start to reminisce and take a trip down memory lane
‘Bout how I had all of your love and flushed it down the drain
I know I, I can’t unring that bell
That bar in that hotel
That’s where I watched you go
If you could take me back
To the night that you left
Oh then I’d be running after you
If you could take me back
I’d take back what I said
Honey, I’d be changed
I’d be begging you to take me back
Back to your heart
Won’t you take me back
Back to the start
Won’t you take me back
Back to that night at the bar
Where it all fell apart
Take me back
Back to that night at the bar
Where it all fell apart
Take me back
Seems like every time I get a little whiskey in my glass
I can’t talk about my future without bringing up my past
I won’t conversation escalate, get out of hands so fast
Just storming out, I’d never should of let you go like that
I know I
I can’t unring that bell
That bar in that hotel
That’s where I watched you go
If you could take me back
To the night that you left
Oh then I’d be running after you
If you could take me back
I’d take back what I said
Honey, I’d be changed
I’d be begging you to take me back
Back to your heart
Won’t you take me back
Back to the start
Won’t you take me back
Back to that night at the bar
Where it all fell apart
Take me back
Back to that night at the bar
Where it all fell apart
Take me back
I’d be begging you to take me back
Back to your heart
Won’t you take me back
Back to the start
Won’t you take me back
Back to that night at the bar
Where it all fell apart
Take me back
Summers:
In the summer of the past
Would like to keep us there forever
Because like everything else
We don’t know if we will ever
Get that time back
Even if the memories
Will stay, and they are the only thing
We have left
