Kindle Book Haul

Well, I had a few ideas on what to blog about on my first official post back to my normal content. I have a few ideas that will come in the days, because my body is pretty jumpy due to Cerebral Palsy and stress. Being used to it doesn’t mean it isn’t annoying. Yesterday, I was pretty low, so I went on Amazon and got some free books. I’m pretty excited about them, and I’m sure you will see something you will enjoy, even though I have different genres (I have already read four of the books I got). Plus some things I don’t typically pick up. Let’s get into it.

Amazon Blurb:

Ella Harvey is done waiting for answers. With only a mysterious blue box and a few scattered clues, she sets out to find the one thing missing from her life—her biological father. Her mother refuses to talk, and Ella’s stubborn heart won’t let her walk away.

Then there’s Zane. He’s spent his life coasting—riding high on his Ducati, surrounded by family, and carving out a career path that’s all his own. But when he’s tasked with helping Ella search for her father, he uncovers a dangerous secret that threatens everything they’ve built.

The chemistry between them is undeniable, but with so many lies buried in the past, their connection may burn them both.
As secrets unfold, Ella’s quest for the truth becomes a dangerous game. She’ll keep Zane’s heart safe, if it means walking away—problem solved, no one gets hurt. Or so she thinks.

But Zane won’t let her go. To keep the fierce and beautiful Ella in his life, he’ll have to find her father. To keep the woman he’s fallen in love with, he’ll have to save her mother.

When fickle March weather comes to Sleighbell Springs, this Christmas town will need a little Luck.

Luck Alvarez misses the magic of their youth. Teaching dance is their calling, but year after year of Nutcracker performances has left Luck all twinkled out. With the long off-season ahead, they reignite their passion by teaching a class far sexier than they’ve dared in years: burlesque.

But mere weeks before their final performance, a spring storm damages their venue, and the Sleighbell Stage is at risk of closing for good. Luck turns the recital into a fundraiser for the beloved community theater. Eager for a showstopping number that will inspire Sleighbell Springs to tip generously, Luck asks Felix Kelly—their best friend and former dance team co-captain—to partner with them for the finale.

Grumpy construction worker by day and raunchy drag king by night, Felix has a heart of gold. Little does Luck know, that heart has belonged to them for years, and the sensual choreography reignites the scorching desire they tried to douse long ago. The community theater may not be the only thing in town falling apart; their undeniable attraction threatens to tear this lifelong friendship to pieces.

Who knew two men could form such a bitter rivalry over adopting a cat?

Jericho Adams is in need of a cat. Doesn’t sound too difficult, even for a reclusive artist like him. People adopt cats all the time. Those people clearly never met Harlan Vardanyan, the world’s surliest pet shop employee.

Harlan’s love for animals is matched only by his disdain for customers. Too much experience tells him they can’t be trusted. When Jericho sets his sights on Dumpling, an aloof-but-lovely young cat, Harlan vows the man will never have her. However, he can’t outright refuse without risking his job.

What he can do is fabricate a series of absurd adoption requirements that Jericho can’t possibly meet. Unfortunately for Harlan, the more his demands escalate, the more determined Jericho becomes to free Dumpling from her short, fire-breathing gatekeeper. Then Harlan is unexpectedly evicted from his apartment, and Jericho ends up rescuing him instead.

Now Jericho and Harlan are forced to continue their battle of wills in tight quarters. Except living together unveils vulnerability on both sides, and soon trading verbal jabs begins to feel… wrong. The weeks-long rivalry sputters, and in its place, a fragile intimacy begins to grow.

But the secret deadline for Jericho’s cat acquisition is rapidly approaching. He can’t let his feelings for Harlan get in the way of his ultimate goal, even if the betrayal will destroy whatever they’ve been building.

Stone Briggs.
Ex-con, big brother, and not a fan of baking. Which was strange considering he owned, Stud Muffins, a reputable bakery in a dodgy part of town.

Stone’s goal in life is to be there for his brothers, and if at all possible, keep them out of prison. Which sounds simple, only… Newt just stole something, Mickey wants to take part in illegal fights, and Jude is keeping a secret.

Things are complicated enough for Stone without Robin strolling into his life and falling at his feet. Not his feet exactly. He falls five metres along from where Stone had his bare butt cheeks against the bakery window…

Why bare butt cheeks?

That might have something to do with the dead man he just wiped off the kitchen walls.

Which wasn’t Stone’s fault.

That was down to the assassin, Donnie King, and Yates Matthews, the crazy florist across the street.

Why did Robin fall?

That might have something to do with the bible that hit the back of his head.

Which was partly Stone’s fault.

If Robin—the priest—hadn’t forced him to take the bible, Stone wouldn’t have thrown it at him.

He didn’t mean to knock Robin unconscious and break his nose. He’s not a monster despite what some people might think.

Stone is just a guilt-ridden guy who runs a stupidly named bakery.

And the ear sliding down the wall has nothing to do with him…

In a highly-structured eighteenth-century society, the city state of Angelio is known for two things: its music, and its guardian, the Archangel Michael.

When Tammo meets Carlo, their lives change forever. With the help of the Archangel, they can grant to each other whatever their hearts desire. But staying true isn’t easy, and their choices will affect not just their futures, but that of Celestina—a young aristocrat destined to be the third person in their relationship.

What happens when survival becomes your full-time job—and no one sees the cost?Still Here is a raw, unflinching memoir about what it means to keep going after loss, trauma, and the quiet devastations that don’t leave visible scars. With honesty and emotional precision, Tabitha Ferguson tells the story of living through absence—of people, safety, certainty—and surviving not because the pain ended, but because she did not.
This memoir explores:
life shaped by trauma, mental illness, and survival mode
the toll of living in constant fight-or-flight
relationships that promised safety and delivered silence
motherhood, identity, and endurance in the aftermath of heartbreak
what it means to still be standing when everything else has fallen away
Written for readers who have lived through grief, abandonment, incarceration, illness, or emotional survival, Still Here does not offer platitudes or easy healing. Instead, it offers truth, recognition, and the quiet power of being seen.
This is not a story of being “fixed.”
It is the story of staying.
For anyone who has ever whispered I don’t know how I survived this—this book is for you.

Read and enjoyed it

Arthur Pendelton is a quiet Sussex farmer, a man of few words deeply tied to the land. But beneath his worn tweed coat beats the heart of a lethal, highly decorated Great War veteran. A wealthy, psychopathic opportunist, Blackwood views the falling bombs as the perfect cover for his monstrous personal crimes and treason. A father is not supposed to disappear quietly.

When a routine separation turns into a prolonged legal process, one man finds himself navigating a system shaped not only by the courts, but by social services—where decisions, delays, and narratives begin long before a judge ever speaks.

What begins with a single phone call evolves into supervised contact, observation, and a gradual redefinition of his role as a parent. Despite consistent evidence, positive reports, and professional support, progress is repeatedly postponed—not through direct opposition, but through process.

This is not a story of collapse.
It is a story of endurance.

Nora becomes embroiled in a murder investigation to clear her best friend Gilly’s name. Using her newfound psychic abilities, Nora races against time to catch a killer before Gilly is wrongly convicted.
*****

My name is Nora Black, and I’m fifty-one-years young. At least that’s what I tell myself when I’m not having hot flashes, my knees don’t hurt, and I can find my reading glasses.
I’m also the proud owner of a salon called Scents & Scentsability in the small resort town of Garden Cove, where I make a cozy living selling handmade bath and beauty products. All in all, my life is pretty good. Except for one little glitch… Since my recent hysterectomy, where I died on the operating table, I’ve been experiencing what some might call paranormal activity.

No, I don’t see dead people, but quite suddenly I’m triggered by scents that, in their wake, leave behind these vividly intense memories. Sometimes they’re unfocused and hazy, but there’s no doubt, they are very, very real. Know what else? They’re not my memories. It seems I’ve lost a uterus and gained a psychic gift.

When my best friend’s abusive boyfriend ends up dead after a fire, and she becomes the prime suspect, I end up a babysitter to her two teenagers while she’s locked up in the clink. Add to that the handsome detective determined to stand in my way, my super sniffer’s newly acquired abilities and a rash of memories connected to the real criminal, and I find myself in a race to catch a killer before my best friend is tried for murder.

Some of the books are still free as I speak, so if you are interested in any of them, it’s best to look on Amazon.
