Summer Book Tag

I never thought of quitting blogging before, but my thoughts are heading in that direction, given how painful it is to type, as well as how upsetting it is. Additionally, I have only 6 GB left in my plan, and I can’t afford an upgrade. However, I will try to delete some old content to see if it helps. For the time being, I’m doing a book tag since it’s fun and easy on my hands. The original creator is Heather from Bookables.

Sand in your toes- A book that’s perfect to read on the beach

A short and sweet female/female rom-com.

Goodreads Blurb:

When skeptical engineer Alex Murphy’s perfectly ordered world collides with mystical cruise director Luna Hartwell’s cosmic chaos, sparks fly higher than the Northern Lights. Can a woman who believes in electromagnetic fields learn to trust in magic? Can a woman who reads tarot cards convince a scientist that love is the most powerful force in the universe? Aboard the lesbian cruise ship Sappho’s Dream, opposites don’t just attract—they create miracles that defy the laws of physics and prove that some equations balance perfectly when you stop trying to solve them and start living them instead.

Summer thunderstorm- A book that truly spooked you

Some things I didn’t see coming here.

Goodreads Blurb:

Keep your enemies close…your sister closer…

To outsiders, twins Mia and Chloe have always been close, like good sisters should be. But in private their relationship is one of jealousy, resentment and bitterness.

Popular and attractive Mia is always the centre of attention, loved by all. Quiet and reserved, Chloe is overlooked and underestimated, and has tried to build a life away from Mia and her manipulation. Finally she is happy and content.

But then Mia returns and makes it clear that she wants to be part of her sister’s life again, to have everything Chloe has…including her new fiancé Scott.

Chloe can’t allow Mia to ruin her life again. She’s done this too many times in the past – always taking things that don’t belong to her.

As old tensions, secrets and lies return, tragedy strikes. And one sister will use the opportunity to live the life she has always wanted…the life she has always deserved.

Heating up- A book that was seriously steamy

Goodreads Blurb:

Blue: When my ex walks into the resort bar with his new husband on his arm, I want nothing more than to prove to him that I’ve moved on. Thankfully, the sexy stranger sitting next to me is more than willing to share a few kisses in the name of revenge. It gets even better when those scorching kisses turn into a night of fiery passion.

The only problem? Turns out the stranger’s brother is marrying my sister later this week.

Tristan: I have one rule: no messing with the guests at my vineyard resort. Of course the one exception I make turns out to be the brother of the woman my brother’s about to marry. Now we’re stuck together for a week of wedding activities, and there’s no avoiding the heat burning between us.

So fine, we make a deal: one week. One week to enjoy each other’s bodies and get it out of our system. Once the bride and groom say I do and we become family, it’ll all be over between us. Right?

Rained out- a book that you were anticipating but was let down immensely

I couldn’t connect with the characters, and for me, that is key.

Goodreads Blurb:

Sully is ready to get out of Hearst, Pennsylvania. With a fashion internship secured, the gender-nonconforming eighteen-year-old is trading in their stifling small town for the big city. Sully even sells their beloved car, to Bread—er, Brad—the most boring (and maybe only other) gay kid in town.

When Sully’s internship goes up in smoke, they’re trapped in Hearst with no cash—and no car. Desperate, they go to the thrift store, their personal sanctuary. There, they discover a vintage bag—like “put this baby in an airtight case at the MET” vintage. If Sully can authenticate it, the resale value would be enough for a new life in the city.

But when they begin to investigate, Sully finds themself haunted. Literally. With the ghost of Rufus, a drag performer from the fifties with no memory of how he died standing—no, floating—in their bedroom, Sully’s summer has a new 1) help this ghostly honey unlock his past and move on and 2) make bank—after all, the Real Real doesn’t take poltergeist purses.

With Rufus in tow, and Brad—who’s looking pretty scrumptious these days—playing chauffeur, Sully delves into the history of the town they’re so desperate to escape. Only to discover that there might be more to Hearst than they ever knew.

Vacay mode- a book that features a vacation

A novella I’m slowly reading

Goodreads Blurb:

This is a story about a vacation. About getting lost at sea. About a girl who wasn’t really a girl. And about a pair of red swim trunks that, somehow, saved her life.

Alex isn’t sure what she is, not yet. But when a family vacation to Maui puts her in a swimsuit that doesn’t feel right, a kayak that drifts out to sea, and a friendship with a girl who sees her as him, something begins to shift.

Over the course of a single week, between crashing waves, sunburns, and too many unspoken words, Alex starts to notice the quiet ache of being misunderstood… and the surprising peace of being seen.

Roadtrip- a book that’s all about a road trip

A novel I have been wanting to pick but haven’t yet.

Goodreads Blurb:

Popular bookstagrammer Chip Pons’s gay rom-com about two men who impulsively pose as a couple to compete in a reality show contest just minutes after meeting at an airport, and their run-in with the very real feelings that start to simmer between them.

Catching flights…& feelings…has never been more complicated.

Asher Bennet thought his relationship was just fine. Until he’s unceremoniously dumped at the Boston airport ahead of the world-wide travel competition reality show, The Epic Trek. Armed with only a ticket and righteous indignation, Asher finds the closest solace he can: a mimosa and mozzarella sticks combo at an airport TGI Fridays. Still, Asher is determined to find a new partner and luckily, right in front of him is a smooth-talking airline pilot ready for takeoff.

Theo Fernandez has been grounded. He’s the only pilot that has never taken a vacation and the edict has been passed prove you’re prioritizing a work-life balance or say goodbye to your wings. As he struggles to bask in his new downtime, without reconnecting with his family, he stumbles upon the perfect opportunity. The handsome guy who “stole” his mozzarella sticks at his favorite terminal eatery has a sudden opening for a partner . . . on a nationally televised reality show.

Theo and Asher buckle up to fake date for the cameras, but as they do the undercurrents of attraction make them wonder if their on-screen chemistry hints at something bigger. Do they have the courage to leave behind their baggage, and wing it together for another chance at love?

Amusement Park- a book that felt like a rollercoaster

Goodreads Blurb:

When historian Clara Matthews discovers a bundle of unopened love letters in her grandmother’s attic, she uncovers more than just a forgotten romance—she finds a mirror to her own heart. Written by Frances Pearson to Eleanor Campbell in the 1950s, these seven letters chronicle a passionate summer love affair tragically cut short by interference and misunderstanding. With her lifelong best friend Riley by her side, Clara embarks on a journey to find the now ninety-one-year-old Frances and deliver the truth that was hidden for sixty-seven years. But as Clara reads between the lines of the past, she begins to see her relationship with Riley in a startling new light. Some letters find their recipients decades later; some feelings remain unspoken until the perfect moment. In this tender story of courage delayed but not denied, two love stories separated by generations prove that it’s never too late to listen to your heart—or to finally mail the letter you’ve been keeping sealed.

Ice Cream- a book that was deliciously sweet

Goodreads Blurb:

After accidentally going viral on social media, a cupcake-baking football player gets assistance from a social media maven—and his best friend’s little sister—to help promote his new bakery.

August Hodges was supposed to be the silent partner in Sugar Blitz Cupcakes. Emphasis on silent. That is until his impromptu feminist rant about how women bakers are the backbone of the industry and baking cupcakes isn’t a threat to masculinity goes viral, making him the hottest bachelor in town. With a new location in the works, August and his partners decide to capitalize on this perfect opportunity to help cement their place in the community. But the hiring of his best friend’s younger sister, the woman who has haunted some of his best dreams for years, was as much of a shock as his new-found fame.

Social media manager Sloane Dell fell hard for her brother’s best friend the moment she met him more than a decade ago, but that teenage infatuation cost her dearly. Still, she accepts her brother’s request to revamp the bakery’s social media presence to take advantage of August’s newfound popularity, knowing it’s the big break her fledgling career needs. She’ll just ignore the fact that August is still August, i.e. sexier and sweeter than any man has a right to be. And that he drives her crazy with his resistance to all her ideas.

They vow to leave the past in the past. But when an explosive make-out session makes it clear their attraction burns hotter than ever, Sloane and August are forced to reconsider what it means to take a risk and chase your dreams.

As they’re both about to find out, all’s fair in love and cupcakes.

Sunrises & sunsets- a book that has a sunrise/sunset on the cover or similar colors

Goodreads Blurb:

This is a heartwarming children’s story about Alex, a spirited young girl living in the small town of Meadowbrook. The story celebrates individuality and challenges traditional gender stereotypes through Alex’s journey of self-acceptance.

Long days- the longest book you’ve read this year

I’m glad I looked, because I had forgotten about this one.

Goodreads Blurb:

I admit it was me who shouted, “Looking good, hot stuff!” at Mr. Richmond this morning, but I didn’t mean it like that.
Honest, I was paying him a compliment! That’s kind of what I do: I’m a proud, small-town Floridian, and Manhattan is craving some Florida sunshine—nothing like a sincere compliment to turn those New York frowns upside down!

Grayson Richmond needs some positivity.
Have you seen how grumpy he is?
Disgustingly wealthy and unfairly hot, the man wears an arrogant snarl almost as well as he wears a suit.
Drool!

The word tyrant doesn’t do him justice, though, when he has me dragged into his office to be reprimanded.
Just FYI, the exact wrong thing to do in that situation is to tell him you’re the one who’s been leaving notes of positive affirmation in his underwear drawer.
As the lowly assistant of the assistant to the secretary of Mr. Grumpy Pants himself, what else do you expect me to do while I’m in his swanky penthouse dropping off the dry cleaning and rehoming Grayson’s food?

No, I am not making a mockery of this company or of him. Believe me, my credit card debt and I are very happy to have this job.
And to have a chance to sprinkle a little joy in Grayson’s life.
I am a kindness fairy on a mission!
Cupcakes, corgi stickers, and surprise visit from my emotional support iguana? Only scowls.

But when he catches me in his penthouse with my blouse undone?
That earns me a genuine, panty-dropping smile.

However, as the cracks form in his carefully controlled life I realize…
Grayson has a dark secret.
And I don’t know if there’s enough sunshine in the world to save him.

I’m not tagging anyone since I have no clue who might be interested in doing it, but if you are, consider yourself tagged.

  1. Great post, but sad to see you’re considering deleting posts. Did I read that right, you have 6GB left? That’s quite a bit of space! If you are going through space, perhaps try compressing your images. Maybe they’re bigger than they need to be. Perhaps even removing some unnecessary pictures? Deleting older posts should be a last resort option if you truly want to continue blogging. I just advise, I’m in no way telling you what to do. 😁
