Freebie Friday #4

Today is my birthday, and it has been eight years since I came out; while I can’t believe I made it so far, I’m grateful that I did. By the way, know that if I don’t get time to post my announcement and TBR (which I still don’t have one for February), I’m still participating in Readathin happening next month, but I don’t know in which capacity I can do it.

Hey Everyone,

As you know, I have been trying this new thing for me where I tell you about a book I loved and share a free ebook link to that book if possible.

Why I picked this book?

I’m reading the last few books from the book haul I had on Boxing Day. Charlotte is a pretty famous author, but she goes back to her hometown because of something. She didn’t mean to meet her ex-husband, let alone have feelings for him again. For Cade, Charlotte was that one love that got away. Charlotte is always inspired to make a life in a bigger city, and Cade cannot force her to stay. With her returning, things feel like the old days. However, Cade, being the policeman he is, knows that something is out of place with Charlotte, and he needs to find out what it is.

First Lines:

I blinked against the silvered glare of the sun on the snow packed road, yawning as I drove. Twelve-hour shifts sucked but working one overnight was the worst. I was exhausted, hungry, and ready to get into
bed with the leftover pizza in my fridge and my Netflix account before rashing into a comatose oblivion. I stretched in my seat and continued up the highway into the mountains. Sweetbriar, Oregon, was one of the small towns you’d pass through on your way to Mount Hood. My house was located up in the foothills overlooking town. And thankfully, I was almost there.

Goodreads Blurb:

I didn’t mean to kiss my ex-husband, it just sort of happened…

He’s Sweetbriar’s most devoted cop, my ex-husband, and the man I’ve avoided for the last ten years.
He might also be my only hope.

Cade Barrett was my first crush, my first kiss, my first everything.
I thought we’d last forever.
But we wanted different things.
He was a hometown boy through and through while my ambitions reached far beyond our small town.

So we let each other go and I left to chase my dreams.
Now I’m back with a secret—the dangerous kind.

He vowed to keep me safe.
While I promised myself to guard my heart.

Until one accidental kiss reignited the fire between us.
And it was hotter than ever before.

Will one final night together extinguish the flames?
Or should I stay and take the one and only chance I have to get him back?
