Come Unhaul/Review Books With Me Part 2

I wanted to do a more complex, researched post, but my body or mind isn’t up for it, so I’m doing part 2, which I was meant to do anyway. I did a post where I did short reviews of the books I unhauled, but I had a long list, so I split it. To be completely honest, I have about 50 to get rid of; sadly, like always, there is a but unhauling, even if it is just digital, it takes time I don’t have. I will stop moaning and tell you about the books.

HEART EYES by EFFIE CAMPBELL: I’m reading the last few pages of this one; it’s not something I would pick by myself, but I needed it for a prompt. Logically, in my head, it shouldn’t make sense since it is a stalker-turned-romance, but I promise there is a connection between the two. It is something that needs to be twisted to be untwisted.

I HAVE NEVER TREATED THIS PATIENT by Hardex Beletovich: this is one more warning for you not to get it, because even if it is free on Amazon and the blurb sounds fantastic, when you start to read it, it is good for two chapters, but then those two chapters are repeated for many pages, and yes, I tried to read to about 20% to see if it changes, but it didn’t, so I assume it is AI-produced and no one bothered to look through it before they hit publish.

Cleansing Season by Patrick Logan: I read this one weeks ago, and if someone asked me to recommend a thriller that stuck with me, this would be my answer. It reminds me of The Curator by M.W. Craven; there is a killer and a copycat killer, but not really. It will keep you reading to the very end. I was lucky to grab it when it was free; at the time of writing, it is $6.29 on Kindle, which can be expensive. On the other hand, as an independent author, I get little to nothing after Amazon takes its cut.

I’m in the last part of Normal People by Sally Rooney, and if you read it, I have questions: are the main characters meant to be so weird? Am I the only one who doesn’t see them as a good fit on the page? I mean, I get it; it is about mental health and such, but I don’t even know what to rate it. Was the author trying to them in a maze without an exit point? Please don’t be offended if you love this novel, but I’m truly confused.
