I say it’s typically Maltese to watch some TV before going to bed. I end my night by watching a game show in Italian, which in English translates to Wheel of Fortune. I’m not sure if the English version is still on air. However, in one of the rounds, we learn a unique fact about the animal kingdom. A thought that came to me just now was that, when I was a young teen, I had a dream of writing a book on marine/sea life, even though I knew 0 about the topic. I forgot what the percentage is, but there’s a fair bit of ocean/sea yet to be discovered.
Narwhals are a special kind of mammal in the whale family. They have a long, spiral tusk that, in reality, is a very long tooth. Due to its habitat, the cold Arctic waters, they have a layer of blubber to keep warm. A cool fact about them is that they can hold their breath up to 25 minutes.
Giant Isopod is a crustacean, and, like other crustaceans, it has many legs that it uses to walk in the deep ocean; they are spineless. It is also known as ‘’the cockroach of the ocean’’ due to how their body is built, and they are cousin to crabs and shrimp. They use their limbs for respiration.
Terrible Claw Lobsters were only discovered in 2007. They are harmless to humans, but it’s not the same for their prey, since they use their claws to catch them. Comes to a total length of 3 centimetres and is technically blind.
Whale Shark is its name, but it isn’t a whale, although they are the largest shark and fish. They tend to be sole travellers; they do disappear for half the year, therefore, we aren’t aware where they give birth. They live up to 80-130 years. Sadly, they are on the endangered list. A common trait they share with us is that they also have fingerprints, which makes them easier for researchers to identify.
I believe that every creature has a purpose, but some beings I saw the image of have the ability to give you nightmares, and others look like they are made from magic. This post was a bit out of the box for me, but I hope you take something out of it, as I did.
