The All Hallows Book Tag

As I’m trying to get back into daily blogging, I’m easing my way into it, so I told myself that the first book tag I find in the reader section, I will do, which ended up being The All Hallows Book Tag, which Bookcheshirecat did, but I don’t know who the original creator is. The first section is the trick-or-treat part, which I edited horribly, and then there are questions.

What are your favourite spooky season genres?

The answer has to be thrillers for me, and I love a good thriller in audio form. The last one I read or listened to was  The Last Room on the Left by Leah Konen. I say it was good, but a bit slow plot-wise.

Which titles do you recommend for Halloween reading?

Currently, two novels come to mind, one I read and the other one I haven’t read yet, but I will share both.

Goodreads

When a sassy mortician swipes right on a centuries-old vampire, she gets more than she bargained werewolf attacks, supernatural politics, and a love that could last an eternity. In this wickedly funny paranormal romance, Hazel and Lucien navigate the perils of inter-species dating, broker peace between ancient enemies, and prove that true love conquers all—even death itself. With sharp wit, steamy encounters, and a dash of morgue humor, “Immortal Mismatch” is a delightfully macabre romp that will leave you dying for more.

Goodreads Blurb:

When Riley Stone and her agency are invited to the exclusive International Supernatural Dating Summit in Vienna, they discover a sinister plot. Ancient vampire houses and corporate interests have joined forces to create a Universal Bond Registry that would control and restrict supernatural relationships worldwide. As James faces pressure from his vampire lineage to join the regulatory council, and Nick uncovers a scheme to harvest supernatural genetic data, Riley must build a coalition of progressive supernaturals to protect dating freedom. With her witch marks glowing and her partners by her side, Riley challenges centuries of tradition to prove that in love, as in business, the most valuable bonds are the ones freely chosen. From the elegant ballrooms of Vienna to the shadows of vampire politics, this supernatural dating revolution will test Riley’s agency, her relationships, and her belief that love should never be regulated.

What are your most anticipated reads this month?

Goodreads Blurb:

When Molly Burke was four years old, she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a rare degenerative eye disease that causes gradual and complete blindness, forcing Burke to conceptualize the world differently. Growing up disabled didn’t stop her from playing sports, speaking publicly, or becoming a rock-climbing instructor, but it was other people’s narrow perceptions of her that held her back. Today, Burke is a speaker, content creator, model, author, and advocate whose mission is to help foster community for anyone feeling isolated, misrepresented, or misunderstood. Unseen is Burke’s story in her own words and an inspiration to those who have been stigmatized or are feeling alone in their struggles to speak out.

Burke chronicles her journey as a disabled woman, business owner, and entertainer, illuminating not only what her experiences have taught her, but also what she wishes the world understood about her world and the world of others in the blind community. Part memoir, part rallying cry for better representation, Unseen recounts Burke’s life and experiences fighting against the expectations society set for her as a blind woman, and in doing so, helps readers find their voice, strength, and inner purpose.

It was meant to come out last month, but due to publishing issues, it came out this week.

Have you had a paranormal experience or spooky coincidence?

I have heard stories, and they terrified me as a child, while I haven’t experienced anything myself, even shows on TV on the subject make me uncomfortable.

What are your spooky season film and TV favourites?

Unrelated to the spook season, new seasons of Crime Beat and Cold Justice have started. Crime Beat is about true crimes that happened in Canada, and Cold Justice in the USA.

How do you celebrate Halloween?

I don’t celebrate, I’m starting to feel lame about.

I wanted to tag people, but I’m worried I will bother them, so I won’t

  1. Ahhh I’ve not done a book tag in ages, I used to love doing them! I don’t really like anything spooky so I don’t do much for Halloween, but me and my brother often meet up for a little celebration. It’s a chance to be cosy, for me, rather than dress up and go out. Thanks for sharing x
