To be frank, I have an endless to-do list, but I can confirm that I have given up on Readathin, but on my 4th board of Nevermore-a-thon, which leaves me with the third needing to submit for points. I have read four books today, so as you can guess, I’m halfway done with my fourth. I have read 49 books so far this month. Outside of emails tonight, I hope to continue working on the top five Wednesday prompts, as I should be co-hosting in September. If you are having hot summer days like we are, remember to drink plenty of water. Sam is currently hosting WWW Wednesday from Taking On A World of Words.

For decades after World War II, histories of the French Resistance were written almost exclusively by men and largely ignored the contributions of women. Many current overviews of the subject continue to underplay the extent and importance of women’s participation in the Resistance, treating the subject, in the words of one historian, as ‘an anonymous background element in an essentially male story’.
The Sisterhood of Ravensbrück corrects that omission, surveying the bond between four women — Germaine Tillion, Anise Girard, Genevieve de Gaulle, and Jacqueline d’Alincourt — who fought valiantly against Nazi oppression. While the women belonged to different Resistance movements and networks, they were united by a common they were arrested by the Gestapo, underwent merciless interrogations and beatings, were jailed — and, most significantly, survived, if just barely, the hell of Ravensbrück, the only concentration camp designed specifically for women. In an institution designed to dehumanise and kill, the sisterhood maintained their sense of self and joined together to face down death.

Savannah Hollywood’s life is crumbling. Her marriage is over and her soon-to-be ex-husband has been spreading nasty rumors questioning her fidelity. It’s only a matter of time before the gossip starts to affect her career. She’s been in the business long enough to know the only way to stop a rumor is with a bigger story.
The only thing bigger than the lies her ex has been peddling is coming out of the closet and living her truth as a bisexual woman, but with her false reputation as a man eater, she’s not sure the public will believe the truth. Hiring a fake girlfriend seemed like the best option at the time.
The plan? Orchestrate a whirlwind romance, go viral, and solidify Savannah’s status as a bisexual icon, or a bi-con as their PR team insists on calling her. It sounds simple enough.
Unfortunately for Savannah, the fake girlfriend isn’t some stranger, as planned, but her ex-best friend and former costar. Things may have ended badly between them, but seeing Maya for the first time in years fuels a desire in Savannah, a desire that she’s determined to ignore.
