Here’s the issue I caused by not writing my thoughts on books right away; now I have to rethink my thoughts and retrieve the book since I deleted it by mistake.
Hey Everyone,
As you know, I’ve been trying a new thing for me, where I share a book I love and provide a free ebook link to it, if possible.
As a reader, sometimes you connect with characters in a way you never thought you would. Nina has been pretty much glued to her sister’s side ever since she was born, so when her sister passed before her thirteenth birthday, she left a bucket list, and Nina goes on a mission to make all the wishes on the list come true for her sister. While on this adventure, she embarks on a journey of dealing with survival guilt, which evokes intense emotions. On top of coming to terms with the fact that she has a crush on her best friend. I’m always amazed at how well some authors can deal with topics like death. It’s a heartfelt middle grade in verse.
First Lines:
Before . . .
summers in Paris
were all kinds of magic.
Visiting Aunt Renée,
sipping chocolat chaud
on sunny patios while locals
sipped bitter espresso
in the heat of summer
because we could.
Our parents worked remotely,
took time off
to explore with us;
everything was lighter laughter,
and so much learning!
Every French word
rested, rooted
into my tongue. My ears
knew les mots like spells I now forget.
It’s been three years
since we walked these streets
a whole family
a yearly tradition that . . . died.
Two years, eleven months, nine days
since we were
a whole family
anywhere.
I decided to share the first piece so you can get a feel for the writing

Goodreads Blurb:
Nina always followed her older sister, Lily. But just before her thirteenth birthday, Lily died, leaving Nina behind forever.
In the three years since she lost her sister, Nina has completed Lily’s secret Before Birthday lists to continue in her footsteps. But now Nina is catching up. When Nina flies to Paris, France, and completes tasks that Lily never finished, Nina finds herself magically transported inside of her own memories, face-to-face with the ghosts of her past.
With her birthday looming and the last list running out, Nina is torn between visiting her sister in her memories and adventuring in the present, including crushing hard on her art classmate, Sylvie. Should she follow Lily’s instructions or try something new? And what happens when she finishes the list?.
