Want to know a weird reading habit I’ve developed? I have been reading way more during the week than at the weekend, which I know should be the other way around, because I get distracted by everything around me. As long as there isn’t a reading challenge, my friends are doing it, and I joining in isn’t likely to happen. Plus, I’m doing a bit of my reading stats every day since I’m about 100 books behind. On the bright side, I have been keeping up with emails and scheduling posts. I wish that wheelchair user accessible taxis were more affordable. We live on an island by car, and there’s only a 15-minute drive both ways. Both ways cost 40 euros, which might not sound like a lot, but I earn way less a day on my current part-time basis. Fortunately, my manager has allowed me to telework until the van is fixed. Sam is currently hosting WWW Wednesday from Taking On A World of Words.

Lies. Betrayal. Deceit. Welcome to Brookhaven, where nothing is ever what it seems…
Ainsley Layne is running from something—or someone. Sheriff Dare Jensen can see it in the way she watches her surroundings, the way she flinches away from him every time he comes near. Though she tries to hide the shadows in her eyes, the dark bruises that riddle her body tell their own dark tale.
Dare knows that winning her trust won’t be easy. She’s been hurt too many times and, despite his offer of a safe haven, she refuses to confide in him. Until the killings begin…
When a young woman is found strangled to death and left posed on a park bench, the murder rocks the small town of Brookhaven. Coinciding so closely with Ainsley’s arrival, Dare can’t help but wonder… Is it a coincidence? Or is it somehow connected to the woman residing under his roof?

Jane Wilcox has a secret. She’s been the incognito poker scout to a rock star poker player dressed as a smoking hot poker babe. Now that role is over, and she’s living in small town Dare Valley, working as a dog walker—or so everyone thinks. Without her Jimmy Choo heels and Prada gowns, she’s trying to find her new sexy Inner Swan and a fairytale romance, but she’s afraid she might have turned back into “Plain Jane” until she meets Matt Hale in the dog park.
The sexy lawyer has a rambunctious dog that needs her Dog Whisperer skills and slowly they move from friends to lovers. Matt is one of the good guys, a hero, totally boy-next-door material. He’s returned to his hometown after experiencing a tragedy. He was unable to find justice for the woman in his last legal case, and now she’s passed away and given him her dog. He’s vowed to give Henry a good home and right the wrongs in the system, so he’s running for mayor of Dare Valley.
Jane and Matt fall in love during sunset walks in the dog park, but soon Jane’s secret past comes back to haunt her and harms Matt’s bid for mayor. Can Jane and Matt’s love survive the controversy?
