Now, I’m aware that people might judge me here since I did a mini book haul not that long ago and because I’m doing an m/m readathon. I’m doing an LGBTI+ version with the prompts, so I’m not strictly following the rules. I looked for free LGBTI+ books, but there weren’t any that caught my eye or that I hadn’t already read. On the other hand, there were some memoirs I want to read as soon as March is over, and I wanted to share them with you just in case you are interested in picking them up.

A legendary detective. A relentless killer. And a writer who uncovered it all. Journey into the darkness of serial murder with the LAPD’s Badge Number One.
This true-crime memoir details the surreal journey of a suburban housewife who spends 13 years shadowing one of the Los Angeles Police Department’s top homicide detectives. A sharply written account of a veteran cop’s murder investigations. — Kirkus Reviews
When a suburban mother decided to chase her dream of becoming an author, she never imagined it would lead her into the dark, twisted world of homicide investigation. But a fateful phone call to LAPD’s most decorated detective, John “Jigsaw” St. John, would change everything.
Over thirteen years, Jane Howatt shadowed Jigsaw through some of the most gruesome cases in Los Angeles history, documenting the brutal crimes of serial killers like Bill Bradford and Bill Bonin while uncovering the resilience of a man determined to bring justice to the victims.
Part memoir, part true crime, Jigsaw & Jane offers readers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the highs and lows of solving high-profile murders. From the gritty Mojave Desert, where evidence and tragedy collide, to the somber realities of the courtroom, Jane captures the raw intensity of life alongside a homicide detective. But this isn’t just a story of crime; it’s a story of transformation. As Jigsaw pieces together evidence to solve complex cases, Jane pieces together her own narrative—becoming the writer she never thought she could be.

Not everyone knows about The Club, which is by design. The main floor entertains the elite. There are dim lights, stolen touches and the liquor flows to ensure the guests get exactly what they want. There are high profile clients, cuffs and collars, contracts and secrets in every corner.
But it’s what lies beneath these floors, down the spiral staircase, that intrigues me the most.
There’s a man who stays in the corner of the darkest rooms. In this world of sinful tastes, he is the ruler, the devil, the boss. Declan Cross.
I knew him once when times were different and the years have changed everything.
He makes me an offer, one that speaks to the very soul of my desire. One I can’t say no to and one that changes everything.

Ruby Steele, 30, beautiful, fit, seems just like any other ex-pat hiding out in the Bahamas and playing local bartender. But unruly patrons find out the hard way: Ruby is a mixed-martial-arts pro, and not one you’d want to cross.
In fact, Ruby would be a champion if she hadn’t been forced to walk away and hide out in the Bahamas.
Because Ruby knows too much. She knows where the bodies are buried. And she knows when it’s time to get out of town.
But what Ruby doesn’t know is why there is a dead tourist in the dumpster behind her seedy bar.
Or why, she, of all people, had to find it.
Or why this guy was out at 3am when he had a pretty fiancé waiting in a hotel room a mile away.
Or why the local cops are pinning her.
Or why she’s gonna be forced into a choice: find the killer, or do hard time herself.
For Ruby, good choices have never been her strong point.
And this one’s definitely not going to be good…
Welcome to the Bahamian world of Ruby Steele, replete with her local dive bar, her wily pet monkey, her major drinking problem, her (way) too many fights, her inability to get herself out of trouble, and her fists made of stone. Ruby’s life is a complete wreck. But there’s one thing she’s good at: capturing your heart.
