I believe I joined Story Graph about 2 years ago, but the only thing I did was export my books for Goodreads, but that was about it. I had to make a new password; that’s how much I haven’t used it. Hopefully, I will update it more often than I have. I have read 21 books so far, which is incredible thinking about it. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by thatartsyreadergirl, which has a new weekly topic.
January 14: Bookish Goals for 2025 (How many books do you want to read this year? Are you hoping to read outside your comfort zone? Are there books you meant to read last year but never got to? Are there new-to-you authors you’re hoping to read?) So, let’s start with classic ones, shall we? Plus, I have a feeling I can think of more than 10, but I will keep it to the main ones.
Read 100 books:
Yes, I know I typically reach that goal by March, but for some reason, I’m feeling pressured.
Read as many LGBTI+ as I can:
The reason I don’t want to put a number on it since the books I want to read aren’t always available to me.
Read more non-fiction:
I enjoy memoirs or books about the animal kingdom, but I tend to reach for them much less.
Not going on a complete book ban:
From last year, I know I won’t be able to keep it up. What I’m planning to do is if I get five Kindle books, I will try to read six. It’s a system I tried in December, and it works for me.
Learning to be okay with short book reviews:
I need to remember that just because I write two sentences instead of sixteen, I can still express my thoughts on a book.
Read as many indie/self-published authors as I can:
My issue isn’t reading the books, but remembering to list them in my self-publishing list is where I fail.
Find a series to fall in love with:
I have a series in mind; I just read Snowed Inn by Erin Branscom and loved it, so I looked it up and found the whole series to read if I wanted to.
Learn to DNF/Unhaul:
I have a ton of books on my Kindle that I’m more likely not to read than to read, but I feel guilty about deleting them.
Highlight lines as I’m reading them:
I say I will remember to highlight things after I never do, which I hope will change this habit in 2025.
Share my thoughts, even if unpopular:
This happened to me with The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman, and I’m glad I wrote that review because people still cared about what I had to say, even if they might disagree with me.
I would love to know if any of mine match yours.
Alex
Firstly, 100 books by MARCH?! OMG it me all of last year to read 100 books! 😂😂 Im so jealous! Then, I enjoy reading critical book reviews. You may say something that turns me on about the book. U never know! Hope u have a good reading year!!

I struggle with DNFing books, too! But I feel as though I really need to learn how to do that if I’m just not enjoying a book… Also, I’m with you on the shorter reviews. Sometimes I’ll pressure myself into writing a long and detailed review even when I don’t have time or I just don’t have that much to say about a book, and then I’ll end up not writing it at all. That’s one to think about for sure!
Good luck with these 😊

I’m not usually a goal oriented reader, but I loved most of these, especially not going on a book ban: I know from past experience that doesn’t work!
I did my own thing this week: https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2025/01/14/top-ten-tuesday-this-list-has-been-brought-to-you-by-the-letter-i/

I really like your point on being okay with shorter reviews. Sometimes there’s less to say about a book and that’s okay! I love opposing opinions and I love reading reviews even if I disagree with them so yesss!! 👏🏽

Reviews can be however long you want them to be! Sometimes you don’t have a lot to say, and that’s okay. Especially when you DNF something… my reason is usually “it didn’t work for me.” Good luck with your goals!
