June 28: Books On My Summer 2022 To-Read List
So here is the deal, I already downloaded a summer TBR themed with the word summer in the title. However, I changed my mind because the covers didn’t look summery enough for my taste. So, I went on my kindle and picked another ten. The good thing is that once I read them, I can make some space for more books. I have so many that I might have to put myself on a book-buying ban even if I get all my kindle books free.

Goodreads Blurb:
All is fair in love and texting …
When Aimee Tompkins loaded up her old catering van and pulled into Manhattan, she had her sights set on becoming one of the best (and most lucrative) caterers to ever serve crudités and creampuffs in the Big Apple. But after a year of leaving fliers all over town, she’s not only running out of money, she’s running low on hope. So when she lands a gig at a big architecture firm, Aimee’s certain her luck is about to change.
Noel Fitzwilliam is pitching the most important project of his life—the type of project architects dream of. Everything has to go right, so when he finds the new caterer naked in his office bathroom right before the meeting, he’s torn between being thrilled and being extremely irritated. He doesn’t have time for romance, no matter how incredible she looks without her clothes on.
A mix-up means Aimee is accidentally given his cell number instead of his assistant’s. So when she starts texting Noel about how much she hates him, he decides to have a little fun with her. The last thing he expects is for her to turn his world upside-down. But that’s exactly what happens as the pair start sharing their deepest secrets and their greatest fears, and Noel discovers he can share so much more via text than he can in person. But what will happen when she finds out who he really is?
It’s a case of opposites attract, even when they repel …

Goodreads Blurb:
Eden Perry, television news reporter and superfan of the world’s biggest movie star, has the chance of a lifetime—an interview with the man of her dreams, the future father of her children, the world’s pinnacle of male perfection: action star Gavin Braddock.
Her entire future happiness will be secured if only she can get there.
But when she accidentally interrupts an FBI sting operation, she’ll have to make it past sexy, scowling Special Agent Matthew Decker first.

Goodreads Blurb:
Fake dating has one rule: Don’t let feelings get involved.
Callie Cartwright is about to lose her job. Either she cleans up her mounting debt, or her career in finance is over.
NBA point guard Dean Kimball should be having the time of his life. But even his flourishing basketball career isn’t enough to help him forget his feelings for his little sister’s best friend.
So when Callie decides to enter the date-for-hire world to relieve her increasing debt, Dean suggests an alternative option. Date him for money to help his image.
Too bad the one rule they set for themselves is the one rule they can’t follow.

Goodreads Blurb:
Elle Brook
I’m pretty sure heartthrob Zane Masters is sabotaging my business, and I’m going to prove it.
It’s no secret that the big-shot CEO of Got Cake? wants to buy my bakery but I declined his offer––even though it was presented to me on a notecard with a triple chocolate donut.
For the record, I did not eat his over-priced donut… I threw it in the trash.
Off the record––I totally ate it, and oh my heck, it was finger-licking delicious.
Just as I get ready to release something new, Got Cake? announces something suspiciously similar.
Not forgetting the time three crates of fish got delivered to my shop. Dead fish.
It took me DAYS to get rid of the stench.
And Zane is my number one suspect.
The only way I’m gonna find the proof I need to stop all this nonsense is to get close to him. Real close.
He’s a man’s man with a hunky smile and a smolder that can melt any heart, I know exactly what an alpha male like him wants in a woman.
My friends think I’m playing with fire. But I’ll do whatever it takes to unravel his dark secrets. And the only way I’ll get hurt is if I let my heart get involved. That’s not gonna happen.
Besides, there’s zero chance I’m gonna fall in love with my enemy.

Goodreads Blurb:
Everything went wrong. And then she went gray.
At 47, newly divorced makeup artist Lela Bennett is dreading her next steps. Dating. Meeting people. Not letting herself go. But then she runs into Donovan James and tries something different-sleeping with her sexy crush from college. Unfortunately, in a post-orgasm stupor, Lela confesses she was in love with Donovan all those years ago. He responds by leaving while she sleeps. The next morning, her gray hairs are practically taunting her. She knows she has to get it together. Forget men. Embrace her age. Own her gray.
Donovan James is a marketing genius, but his ex-wives will tell you-nothing freaks him out like feelings. Three years after his one-night stand with Lela, he’s focused on his daughter’s lifestyle company, but unprepared to meet the face of their new beauty brand. It’s Lela. With stunning silver locks and new confidence, she’s no longer swayed by his charms. When business starts booming, the universe seems intent on throwing them together time and again. And suddenly, two people convinced that romance was behind them are wondering if love could be what’s next.

Goodreads Blurb:
I have a crush… Well, two, really. One is a guy I met online, who I’ll never work up the guts to meet in real life. And the other? That’s a long story…
My life feels like it’s falling apart at the seams—I’m broke, my restaurant is on the verge of failure, and my brother’s best friend just moved back to town.
Okay, so maybe Brooks Callahan’s return isn’t a life-ending event, but it sure feels like it. Eight years ago, he told me he wanted me. He was just a kid, and honestly, so was I. When I tried to let him down gently, he lashed out, his awful words scarring me in ways they never should have.
Now Brooks is the only one who can help me, and I have to find a way to put our issues to bed. Metaphorically, not literally. That would be ridiculous, right? Of course, it would.
Maybe I’ll ask the guy I’ve crushed on for months…my online friend whose posts always seem to reverberate in my soul. Whose messages make me laugh. Think. Feel.
The one who has his own crush…on someone else.
What am I going to do?

Goodreads Blurb:
A frazzled foster mother. Two adorable, trouble-maker boys. And the grouchy doctor who’s helplessly drawn to them.
Ida Simpson has her life in perfect order and protects that order with everything in her.
Until her boyfriend of six months breaks up with her over the phone; a thief steals said phone in the middle of the devastating break-up, and she ends up accidentally hurling the robber into traffic.
When Ida accompanies the young criminal to the hospital, she meets the arrogant Dr. Park Kang-Dae. He’s handsome, grumpy and has the bedside manner of an undertaker.
They clash every time they meet and she’s pretty sure he lacks a heart.
Hers is still alive and well because, after hearing the thief’s tear-jerker of a story, Ida ends up fostering him and his little brother. Going from newly single to newly single with two kids is a rollercoaster ride that entails frequent trips to the hospital.
But with every visit, more of Dr. Park’s marshmallow heart is revealed and soon Ida finds herself falling for him. Can she juggle her patchwork family and a burgeoning romance? Or will her need for a rigidly ordered life ruin her chances of a happily ever after?

Goodreads Blurb:
I hated Miles Crowe more than poison ivy, itchy socks, the stink of the French Quarter on the hottest day of summer, people who didn’t use turn signals, “namaste” puns on yoga tank tops, and chigger bites. Combined.
26-year-old New Orleans native Elle Jones used to be the internet’s most famous meme for rejection thanks to an embarrassing teenage TV appearance. But she’s finally put that past behind her and now she’s killing it as a commercial real estate agent in the coolest neighborhoods in the city.
When Miles Crowe—the former pop star who made her notorious—insists on hiring her to find a property for his jazz club, she’ll do everything she can to get herself fired before he realizes who she is.
But Miles has grown up too, and Elle soon discovers that he is as passionate about the city as she is…and even sexier now than he was then. Will she risk exposing her humiliating past to claim a future with the guy who once nearly ruined her life?

Goodreads Blurb:
Ivy needs a miracle and a drink—not necessarily in that order. With a struggling winery, the only hope of keeping her dream alive is snagging a gold medal at the annual wine competition. She’s determined to win, but she can do it without the help of Ted Jacobs, aka Mr. Know-it-All.
Ted wants to catch lightning in a bottle and create the world’s greatest wine, but he’s smart enough to know he can’t do it alone. When he heads to Napa to keep his grandma from ending up in jail (don’t ask), he meets Ivy. She’s as complex and intoxicating as his award-winning cabernet, but as stubborn as the mule next door when she stomps on his offer to collaborate.
Ted knows it’s risky to mix business with pleasure, but if Ivy would only listen, they might just be the toast of the town.

Goodreads Blurb:
“You can’t Schitt’s Creek a town, Tank.”
“And you can’t verb a noun, son.”
When a family of former pro football players buy a small Texas town, they didn’t intend to start a war with its residents … or to fall in love.
Ever since his career-ending injury, Pat has bounced from job to job, idea to idea, short-lived relationship to short-lived relationship. But when his father purchases the town of Sheet Cake, Pat suddenly sees his life with clear purpose: get his brothers on board with his dad’s wild idea and win back the one woman who got away.
Lindy was supposed to be traveling the world, not stuck in a small town, caring for her niece. But she would do anything to keep custody of Jo–even if that looks like a marriage of convenience with the man who already broke her heart once.
Now if she can only keep herself from falling back in love with her husband…

These books all just give off such a fun and summery vibe! I hope you enjoy your summer reading, and can completely identify with having to slow down with getting kindle books even if they’re free. I feel like I’m drowning in books!
