Top Five Wednesday/ Adult Books

Top Five Wednesday, which right now is taken over by the author Laura A Grace. Top Five Wednesday is a weekly book prompt that might help you pick your next read.

April 27th: Adult Book Love

YA has increasingly become more popular among readers of ALL ages, but let’s take some time to share some adult book love! What are some books geared towards adults that you absolutely love and would recommend?

This prompt made me realise that I read more in the young adult and middle-grade genre than I thought I did.

Goodreads Blurb:

Construction executive Jefferson Traynor has zero problems attracting women. Until now. A blow to his ego, the sexy, beautiful Marisol seems immune to his superpower charms.
Marisol Ortega is on a mission– build the safest women’s shelter she can negotiate on her shoestring budget. If that means playing along with the gorgeous, cocky stud building it– then game on. A single mom to foster son Hector, Mari can’t afford the distraction of the crazy hot man pursuing her.
Chasing Marisol was supposed to be a fun, no-strings interlude while Jeff builds a safe shelter for the strong women he has grown to admire. Falling for Mari and Hector wasn’t in the blueprint. But can Marisol ever move past old fears to risk building a shiny, new life with him?

Goodreads Blurbs:

Sage Singer is a young woman who has been damaged by her past. Her solitary night work as a baker allows her to hide from the world and focus her creative energies on the beautiful bread she bakes.
Yet she finds herself striking up an unlikely friendship. Josef Weber is a quiet, grandfatherly man, well respected in the community; everyone’s favourite retired teacher and Little League coach.
One day he asks Sage for a favour: to kill him. Shocked, Sage refuses.
Then Josef tells her that he deserves to die—and why.
What do you do when evil lives next door? Can someone who’s committed horrendous acts ever truly redeem themselves? Is forgiveness yours to offer if you aren’t the person who was wronged? And most of all—if Sage even considers his request—would it be murder, or justice?

Goodreads Blurb:

The single mom of a severely autistic son, Elizabeth Bowen is a full-time accountant in Illinois. But the plant where she’s been working will be closing soon, due to the economy. She’s had her hands full with her son Kyle, since his father’s been long out of the picture, so when the opportunity to enroll Kyle in a vocational facility in Wisconsin comes up, she gladly accepts.

Retired air force captain, Zachary Logan, is a wounded warrior, searching for a new life for himself outside of the air force. When he relocates to the town of Crystal Rock at the invitation of his friend, Luke Bryant, he realizes he’s found it, and accepts the position of administrator at the recently built wounded warrior facility.

When Beth and Zach meet at the beach at Dragonfly Pointe, their attraction to each other is instantaneous. And the most wonderful thing of all? Zach is accepting of her son, Kyle, for exactly who he is.

But even after getting to know each other better, and sharing an incredibly passionate kiss, Beth is puzzled by Zach’s behavior. What’s Zach hiding, that’s preventing him from taking the next step?

Could these two lonely people discover that love–is that something unspoken, that’s been missing from their lives?

Goodreads Blurb:

2014. Sensible Nora has always taken success for granted, until suddenly her life begins to fall apart. Troubled by anxiety and nightmares, she finds herself drawn to the sweeping beaches of Tenby, a place she’s only been once before. Together with a local girl she rents a beautiful townhouse and slowly begins to settle in to her new life. But Tenby hides a secret, and Nora will soon discover that this little town by the sea has the power to heal even the most painful memories.

1950. Teenager Chloe visits Tenby every summer. She stays with relatives, and spends the long, idyllic days on the beach. Every year is the same, until she meets a glamorous older boy and is instantly smitten. But on the night of their first date, Chloe comes to a realisation, the aftermath of which could haunt her forever.

Goodreads Blurb:

zzy Brown has always dreamed of being an Instagram influencer. So when her colleague and fellow Instagrammer Luke suggests they ‘fake date’ to boost their profiles, Izzy says yes – against her better judgement.

Now Izzy’s profile tells the story of a confident, glamorous thirty-something with the perfect boyfriend, and her follower numbers are shooting upwards. So what if Izzy can’t stop bickering with Luke, his habit of checking his quiff in every single mirror is driving her insane, and behind the scenes she’s hiding a secret heartache? Everyone tells a few fibs on social media, right?

But when Izzy runs into Aidan, the mysterious stranger who saved her the day her world fell apart two years ago, major sparks start to fly between them. Izzy’s sure she can have the online success she’s always dreamed of, whilst continuing to fall in love – and heal her heart – in real life. After all, Aidan doesn’t use social media… what could possibly go wrong?

This post is special to me because while I was scrolling to see which 5 I wanted to pick, these brought some beautiful reading memories.
