Freebie Fridays #1

Hey Everyone,

As you know, I have been trying this new thing for me where I tell you about a book I loved and share a free ebook link to that book if possible.

Why I picked this book?

I did read three historical fiction books if not one after the other; they were close to that. Two were set in World War 2, and the other wasn’t. The novel is close to everyone in the book community knowing about is The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali since it was nominated for the Goodreads 2024 release and I enjoyed it too. Nonetheless, I chose books for this post based on two things: my thoughts and the ones I haven’t seen around that much.

The Royal Librarian by Daisy Wood talks about two women from the same family but coming from different generations facing secrets with the time they were living, or so they thought since, as we know, secrets will come unrevealed sooner or later and will be time to face the music. If you aren’t a fan of Historical Fiction, I think you will still enjoy this talks about family and self-discovery.

First Lines:

Windsor Castle, July 1940
Sophie is taken away through St George’s Gate for the last time. She knows in her heart she won’t be coming back. Her wrists are handcuffed behind her back, and she’s escorted by two policemen, one on each side, as though she were the most dangerous criminal in Britain. ‘I’m not the enemy,’ she
wants to shout, but no one will believe her. Heads turned as she marched along the corridors from the Superintendent’s office, past footmen in battle-dress livery and housemaids appearing from nowhere to gawp. She could guess what they were thinking: ‘We never trusted that girl, and look how right we were.’

Goodreads Blurb:

Philadelphia, Present day: Digging into her great aunt’s family tree, Lacey Turner comes across a mysterious book bearing the stamp of Windsor Castle’s royal bindery. But how did it come to be in her family’s possession?

And so begins a journey that will take Lacey from battlefields to Buckingham palace in a quest to reunite the book with its rightful owner…
