In The Middle Readathon Announcement and Maybe TBR

So, dear people, my friend Donna from MomsBookCollection made an announcement about a readathon in the Middle of the year (get the pun?). This is Donna’s first time hosting a readathon by herself, and I can sense some anxiety there. While I know she will be a great host, it would be nice if you could go and show her some love.

The Dates are from June 18th to July 16th.

The Prompts:

Read the next book in the series

Amazon Blurb:

Twenty-year-old Evelyn Burns is ecstatic after landing a spot in an internship program at the French fashion house LaRue. Yet, in the competitive world of fashion, where expression is everything, she’s unsure if she can find her voice. Which, for a young woman who struggles to speak, may prove difficult.

After befriending the face of LaRue, a young model named Aubrey, Evelyn learns of a recluse independent Spanish designer in Paris. Praying for inspiration, Evelyn scours the city, hoping to locate this mystery woman. Yet the closer she gets, the further this mystery designer seems to be.

While searching, Evelyn befriends a young deaf designer named Lucia, who, like Evelyn, has come to Paris to make a name for herself. Excited to find someone with a similar passion, Evelyn enlists Lucia to find this elusive designer. Yet distractions become commonplace as the pair discover each other’s company too much to their liking.

Now Evelyn spends her days not thinking about intricate designs but how to stop three little words from escaping.

Book that is in the middle of your bookshelf

The only bookshelves I have are on Goodreads, and I haven’t added all the books to my TBR, so I can’t pick one for the time being.

Middle Grade

Goodreads Blurb:

In this elegant dual narrative, Essie is a thirteen-year-old girl feeling glum about starting a new school after her professor dad takes a temporary teaching position in a different town. She has 110 days here and can’t wait for them to end. Then she meets Ollie, who is nonbinary. Ollie has beautiful blue eyes and a confident smile. Soon, Essie isn’t counting down the days until she can leave so much as she’s dreading when her time with Ollie will come to an end.

Meanwhile, Ollie is experiencing a crush of their own . . . on Essie. As Ollie struggles to balance their passion for queer advocacy with their other interests, they slowly find themselves falling for a girl whose stay is about to come to an end. Can the two unwind their merry-go-round of feelings before it’s too late?

Mid-year reset

A book that starts with the letter M

Goodreads Blurb:

If I didn’t know better, I’d think my life is a fairytale.

Orphan? Check.
Evil stepmom? Check.
The only problem with my theory is the lack of a dashing prince coming to my rescue.

That is until Xander comes along. He’s charming, gorgeous, and caring. With him my life doesn’t feel like a neverending list of chores.
After my stepmother does the unthinkable, my only hope is winning a publishing competition. But when I find who Xander really is, even that becomes a lost cause.

Midnight Ash is a sweet romance with a sexy kinky twist on the side, and a cast who don’t quite behave as you’d expect.

Book that starts with the middle letter of your name

Goodreads Blurb:

Tommy Dees is in the weeds—restaurant speak for beyond overwhelmed. He’s been working as a server at Sunset Estates retirement community to get the experience he needs to attend one of the best culinary schools in the world. And to make his application shine, he also needs a letter of recommendation from his sadistic manager. But in exchange for the letter, Tommy has to meet three conditions—including training the new hire.

What he doesn’t expect is for the newbie to be an old crush: Gabe, with the dimples and kind heart, who Tommy fell for during summer camp at age ten and then never saw again. Unfortunately, Gabe doesn’t remember Tommy at all. The training proves distracting as old feelings resurface, and the universe seems to be conspiring against them.

With the application deadline looming and Gabe on his mind, Tommy is determined to keep it all together—but what if life isn’t meant to follow a recipe?

A book with middle in the title

Goodreads Blurb:

Time was plunging forward,
like dolphins scissoring open water or like me,
following Jenny’s flippers down to see the coral reef,
where the color of sand, sea and sky merged,
and it was as if that was all God
not a wife, a house or a position,
but a self, like a needle, pushing in a vein.
-from “Olympia”

In his fifth collection of verse, Henri Cole’s melodious lines are written in an open style that is both erotic and visionary. Few poets so thrillingly portray the physical world, or man’s creaturely self, or the cycling strain of desire and self-reproach. Few poets so movingly evoke the human quest of “a man alone,” trying –to say something true that has body, because it is proof of his existence.. . Middle Earth is a revelatory collection, the finest work yet from an author of poems that are . . .marvels-unbuttoned, riveting, dramatic-burned into being– (Tina Barr, Boston Review ).

A book published in the middle of the year

Goodreads Blurb:

As his twenty-sixth birthday approaches, Desta Joy Walker finds himself in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the one place he’s been actively avoiding most of his life. For Desta, the East African capital encompasses some of the happiest and saddest parts of his life–his first home and the place where his father died. When an unavoidable work obligation lands him there for twelve weeks, he may finally have a chance for the closure he so desperately needs. What Desta never expected was to catch a glimpse of his future as he reconnects with the beautiful country and his family’s past.

Elias Fikru has never met an opportunity he hasn’t seized. Except, of course, for the life-changing one he’s stubbornly ignored for the past nine months. He’d be a fool not to accept the chance to pursue his doctoral studies in the U.S., but saying yes means leaving his homeland, and Elias isn’t ready to make that commitment.

Meeting Desta, the Dominican-American emergency relief worker with the easy smile and sad eyes, makes Elias want things he’s never envisioned for himself. Rediscovering his country through Desta’s eyes emboldens Elias to reach for a future where he can be open about every part of himself. But when something threatens the future that’s within their grasp, Elias and Desta must put it all on the line for love.

  1. Awe thank you for sharing this. I hope you have a great time reading AND for the Book that is in the middle of your bookshelf with it being on goodreads you could take the number you have already and divide it in half to pick a middle number.
