Easter Time Book Tag

Happy Easter to all in Malta Easter is nearly as big as Christmas, and I do like Easter more, so when I saw this tag on Zezee With Books, and it was created by  Theresa of the Calico Books. Let’s go collect bookish eggs!

Questions:

EASTER EGG: NAME A THAT FEELS LIKE A HIDDEN GEM.

I did share my thoughts on this book in tomorrow’s post.

Goodreads Blurb:

It’s all fun and games until my best friend starts dating someone who isn’t me.

This story starts when my best friend, Tanner, takes “having a girlfriend” to “completely ignoring me” fast enough to give me whiplash.

Making matters worse while I’m recovering from said whiplash, some guy in leather ruins my life—by stealing my parking spot in front of my favorite bookstore.

Making matters unbelievable, Leather Motorcycle Man is the new editor where I work, my new boss, and the only thing now standing between me and being able to publish my book.

Talk about bad luck.

I hate him; he can’t stand me; my sister won’t stop believing this is our Enemies to Lovers, Sweet and Sassy, Small-town Romance, seventy thousand words, confirmed HEA.

Trust me, I loathe saying it, but…if this guy keeps sneaking himself into the heart Tanner is vacating, my sister might just be right.

Cyprian Douglas—affectionately, Shiane—makes me want more than seventy thousand words. If he can promise me a never-ending series, I might forgive him for taking my parking spot.

If he can’t?

I’ll never forgive him for taking my heart…

BLOOM: A DEBUT NOVEL YOU LOVED

I won’t lie; I had to look at some Goodreads lists for this one.

Goodreads Blurb:

For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet fishing village. Kya Clark is barefoot and wild; unfit for polite society. So in late 1969, when the popular Chase Andrews is found dead, locals immediately suspect her.

But Kya is not what they say. A born naturalist with just one day of school, she takes life’s lessons from the land, learning the real ways of the world from the dishonest signals of fireflies. But while she has the skills to live in solitude forever, the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. Drawn to two young men from town, who are each intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world—until the unthinkable happens.

CHOCOLATE BUNNY: A BOOK SO GOOD YOU DIDN’T WANT IT TO END

Goodreads Blurb:

Kiran is a young Punjabi Sikh woman who becomes pregnant after being sexually assaulted by her fiancé’s brother. When her fiancé and family don’t believe her, she flees her home in India to Canada, where she plans to raise the child as a single mother. For Kiran, living undocumented means constant anxiety over finances, work, safety, and whether she’ll be deported back to the dangers that await her in Punjab.

Eighteen years later, Kiran’s daughter, Sahaara, is desperate to help her mother, who has been arrested and is facing deportation. In the aftermath, Kiran reveals the truth about Sahaara’s conception. Horrified, Sahaara encourages Kiran to speak out against the man who raped her—who’s now a popular political figure in Punjab. Sahaara must find the best way to support her mother while also dealing with the revelation about her parents.

CHEEP, CHEEP: A BOOK YOU BOUGHT FOR SUPER CHEAP

I got it from Amazon for free on the Kindle and liked it too.

Goodreads Blurb:

When Evie’s dreams come crashing down, she’s determined to still make something of herself in these trying times…
It is 1939 and working class Evie Bishop has received a scholarship to study mathematics at Oxford when tragedy turns her life upside down. Evie must seek a new future for herself and, inspired to contribute to the war effort, joins the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force as an Ops Room plotter.

Posted to a fighter station on the Sussex Coast, Evie befriends two other WAAFs – shy, awkward May and flirty, glamorous Jess. Faced with earning the approval of strict officers and finding their way in a male dominated world, the three girls band together to overcome challenges, navigate new romances and keep their pilots safe in the skies.

But the German bombers seem to know more than they should about the base’s operations, and soon Evie, May and Jess are caught up in a world more dangerous than they ever imagined…

JELLY BEAN: A BOOK YOU THOUGHT WAS JUST SO SWEET

Goodreads Blurb:

Ben has a plan for the ultimate Christmas present for Nathan. All it requires is taking a large golden retriever from one end of the country to the other. No pressure.

When a snowstorm rocks the east coast sooner than expected, though, Ben is trapped at the airport, and suddenly all their plans for a perfect first Christmas with Nathan are on the line.

CHURCH: A BOOK THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE

Gabe was the first character I could relate to as a trans guy.

Goodreads Blurb:

This is Beautiful Music for Ugly Children, on community radio 90.3, KZUK. I’m Gabe. Welcome to my show.”

My birth name is Elizabeth, but I’m a guy. Gabe. My parents think I’ve gone crazy and the rest of the world is happy to agree with them, but I know I’m right. I’ve been a boy my whole life.

When you think about it, I’m like a record. Elizabeth is my A side, the song everybody knows, and Gabe is my B side–not heard as often, but just as good.

It’s time to let my B side play.

EASTER BASKET: A BOOK FILLED WITH SO MANY SURPRISES

Goodreads Blurb:

On a notorious stretch of highway rife with serial killers, new victims are appearing, their cars crashed off the road by a reckless killer, their bodies missing. What madness drives this serial killer? And can FBI Special Agent Rylie Wolf uncover the pattern and catch him before he disappears for good?

In Caught You, Rylie, still haunted by a near miss with a murderer during her childhood, tries to avoid facing her past, while hunting down this new killer. Or will her demons drive her over the edge
?

Ok, I guess this is it for today. Thanks for reading,

 Alex
