Nevermore-A-Thon Annoucement

In April, I will be participating in NeverMore-athon, which is inspired by the Netflix show Wednesday, which I heard about but have not watched. The creator is my friend Denise from Adventures In The Enchanted Forest, and it is a month-long readathon. We have seven teams and seven hosts (most are my friends, which is why I feel pressure if I fail.) The Teams are Furs, Stoners, Fangs, Scales, Nightshades, Ravens and Doves, but I honestly don’t remember whose team captain of which team.

Here are the captains:

@bookworm.wander

@BandysBooks

 @thebookdreamersalley

 @BookishBuddies

 @Bookchara

 @MomsBookCollection

@Adventures In The Enchanted Forest

I picked team Scales because that was the board that spoke to me the most, and the team captain is my friend Donna from MomsBookCollection (thanks for the help with the tbr). While I write this, I randomly remember I’m a water sign too.

My TBR (I also can’t remember what is for which prompt)

Goodreads Blurb:

Spending time with the woman who can’t stand the sight of me? Not my best idea. But I can’t help it. Those red lips suck me in.

My job is my life. It’s one of the only things I have going for me. Finding true love? Not in the cards for me.

When the mysterious Celine comes driving into my life, I can’t help but be drawn to her. Those curves and that sexy French accent.

But Celine is closed off and wants nothing to do with me. Yet, I don’t miss the way she looks at me. Like she wants more. Like she wants to kiss the life out of me.

Everything single touch we share lights a fire inside of me. I want this woman more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life.

Can I convince Celine to take a chance on me? Or will she always be the one that got away?

“By the time you read this, I will be dead…”

A twenty year old murder… A Prime Ministerial Leadership Campaign… A paranoid, homeless ex-minister… A TV Evangelist with a murderous secret…

Detective Inspector Declan Walsh has had better days…

Recently blacklisted from the police for punching a priest on live TV (long story), D.I Declan Walsh is one step away from quitting the force for good – and privately investigating the mysterious death of his father, Chief Superintendent Patrick Walsh, who died shortly after writing a tell-all memoir of his time on the force.

But when his father’s old partner, Detective Chief Inspector Alex Monroe arrives with an offer, Declan is forced to take it. For Monroe now leads a City of London task force that concentrates on cold cases, and filled with officers just like Declan; officers that are too valuable to lose, but at the same time have a history in the force. Nicknamed ‘The Last Chance Saloon’, it’s currently investigating a decades old murder – and one that Declan’s father supposedly solved.

When Victoria Davies was pushed off her stately home’s roof in 2001, all evidence pointed to her husband, Michael. But now, twenty years later a letter has appeared, written by Victoria before her death; a letter that was never received, and a letter that brings new suspects into the fray; Labour MPs Shaun Donnal, Andrew MacIntyre and Charles Baker .

But two decades on, life has changed for these men. Donnal is now a paranoid alcoholic living on the streets of London, ‘Andy Mac’ is a popular YouTube Evangelist and Charles Baker is the current Conservative Secretary of State, and the bookie’s choice for next Prime Minister in the upcoming Leadership Election.

Now Declan and his new team must navigate a minefield filled with political intrigue, adulterous affairs, money laundering aristocrats and brutal, bloody murder, as each suspect leads them to a new problem and another skeleton to fall out of the closet.

And at the same time, as he investigates Patrick Walsh’s death, Declan learns that not only was his father connected to an old school London crime family, but also that Patrick (and by default Declan’s new boss, Monroe) might not have been as clean as people believed…

Goodreads Blurb:

In this groundbreaking new book, the author, a trans man, trains to fight in a charity match at Madison Square Garden while struggling to untangle the vexed relationship between masculinity and violence. Through his experience boxing—learning to get hit, and to hit back; wrestling with the camaraderie of the gym; confronting the betrayals and strength of his own body—McBee examines the weight of male violence, the pervasiveness of gender stereotypes, and the limitations of conventional masculinity. A wide-ranging exploration of gender in our society, Amateur is ultimately a story of hope, as McBee traces a new way forward, a new kind of masculinity, inside the ring and outside of it.

Goodreads Blurb:

He was like if water caught fire—a beautiful anomaly. It was gorgeous. Danny wanted to exist inside that explosion and let himself be consumed by it.”

With his life upended at the sight of his cheating boyfriend, Danny Zhou flees across the country with two million dollars in his bank account, and a broken heart to mend.

Danny was never the sort of man who was supposed to make it rich. He was a simple guy with dreams of teaching literature, a cute husband, and maybe a dog or two. At the end of an accidentally viral app, everything he’d dreamt of doing went down the drain, and he learns just how true the saying is: “Money does not buy happiness.”

Uncertain where his future lies, Danny hopes to start over. He expects to do a lot of soul-searching, and thinks maybe volunteering at the Fire Station he’d worked at during his freshman year of college will help him find some direction. He most definitely does not expect Jamie, the stoic, gorgeous, Deaf fire fighter with a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas, and trust issues a hundred miles wide, who seems less than thrilled to have Danny on his team. Will working together lead to a happy ending, or will Danny find that true love just isn’t in his cards?

Goodreads Blurb:

She’s a hot mess, and he’s intrigued from the first time he sees her. He’s a sexy former athlete who could have any woman and she hopes he doesn’t break her heart.
Amery Walsh’s baseball career ended after an injury. He’s been a talent scout for his team and resident playboy since then. But three chance encounters with Lyla Perkins change everything. This tiny, feisty woman flips his world upside-down. Is he ready for a serious relationship?
Lyla Perkins just started her career and so far, it’s an epic disaster. She’s buckling down to prove herself at her job when Amery repeatedly pops into her life, forcing her to consider a more serious relationship. But can a playboy be trusted with her heart?

Amazon Blurb:

It all started when the deal of a lifetime came knocking at my door. I never imagined that my shot at fame and fortune would come with such outrageous conditions. I’ve been dreaming of a music career ever since I was old enough to hold a guitar. I have no idea what to do. Oh, did I mention that things aren’t so great with my boyfriend and manager? Alden thinks I’m a moron for even questioning the music label’s demands. He’s too starry eyed over the big, fat record deal to think about what might be best for me.

Just when I think my life can’t get any more complicated, I find myself in a freak snowstorm. Fate must be having a heyday with this one because who rescues me? The guy I love to hate—Beau Primrose! Yeah, the rough and tumble firefighter is as hunky as ever with his crooked grin and piercing blue eyes. I’ve got his number though. The player broke my heart in middle school, and I have no intention of letting him hurt me again. I can remain immune to his charm … I think. Good Gollie, Miss Mollie, did I actually kiss him … AGAIN?

Goodreads Blurb:

Sexy Australian billionaire Grant Devlin is ruining my life. He exercises shirtless in his office, is notorious for his lunchtime hook-ups, he even yawns sexily. If I didn’t need this job so bad, I’d take his black Amex and tell him where to swipe it.

He doesn’t even know I exist, but why would he? He jets off to Paris with supermodels, I spend Friday nights with Netflix and a chunk of Pepperidge Farm frozen cake—waiting for his call. Because every time he crashes his yacht, or blows $500k on a single roulette spin in Monte Carlo, I’m the PR girl who has to clean up his mess.

But this time, it’s going to take more than just a fat charity donation. This time, the whole company is on the line. He needs to show investors that he’s settling down, and Step #1 is pretending to date a nice, stable girl until people forget about what happened with the Playboy Bunnies backstage at the Oscars.

My plan is perfect, except for one thing:

He picks me.

Goodreads Blurb:

Goodreads Blurb:

Blackmail is a dangerous game. But when the US Ambassador to London and the British Prime Minister are caught up in it, the situation becomes deadly.
The Palindrome Cult members are fanatical. They will stop at nothing to achieve their aims. But who are they? And who is their elusive leader?
Hedge and Cole must hunt them down, before the government is fatally damaged, and before more people have to die.
This is a novel in the acclaimed Hedge & Cole thriller series.
(The Palindrome Cult story concludes in this book, but the main characters are set to return in future exploits).
Cole is a tough, ex-military man. He’s the sort of person that trouble and danger seem to follow, wherever he goes. He can be ruthless when he needs to be. And he often finds the need.
Hedge is a reluctant hero. Plagued with anxieties and haunted by flashbacks, he is not the type of lead character that you would normally expect. This novel is refreshingly different in that respect

I hope you enjoy this post because it took 3 hours to make with my recent Wifi. We can use a book for more than one prompt in this readathon. I’m not fond of it, but it’s good
