Reindeer Readathon Announcement & TBR

I don’t know what’s up with me, but this year I keep failing at Readathons, but oh well, let’s try one more time. The reindeer readathon is a holiday readathon/challenge. There are five teams: Team Mistletoe (Erik), Team Snowflake (Noelle), Team Nutcracker (Christine & Mo), Team Stocking (Kristin) and Team Candy Cane (Lezlie). I’m team Snowflake, and the team that earns the most points there are prizes for a few people from that group. It’s a month-long readathon; fingers crossed, I can remember adding my points. For every prompt, I have a tentative read.

Finish a series or pick up a book that you started and put down. If neither of these are options, a short story/novella.

Goodreads Blurb:

Olivia’s Christmas trip to Venice, Italy, should be a holiday dream come true. But when her unattended luggage becomes the focus of a handsome Italian policeman’ s bomb investigation, she worries she won’t even make it out of the Marco Polo Airport. Practically handcuffed to the best-looking man she’ s ever seen, can Olivia convince him she isn’ t a terrorist before he writes her off for good? Christmas in Venice is the perfect little treat to start the holidays off with a smile.

A book with a cursive/flowy/elegant font on the cover.

Goodreads Blurb:

Christmas is a time for second chances…and for love.

Elizabeth Cranwell’s children left home, her husband divorced her and dissolved their shared business, and she’s set to spend Christmas alone.

Without her husband or the thriving business she spent years of her life building, Elizabeth doesn’t know who she is or what to do with her days. She’s dreading spending her first Christmas alone when her friends convince her to book a holiday at the Waratah Inn.

Robert Patch thought things couldn’t get any worse when his only daughter married a controlling and angry man. That was until his grandchildren arrived. When his son-in-law won’t allow Robert to stay with them over the holidays Robert does the next best thing and books into a nearby inn so he can see the children. He is pleasantly surprised when he meets a woman who reminds him of the love he lost so many years ago, in a way that reawakens a heart he’d long thought dormant.

A book with your favorite season on the cover or the book cover has colors from your favorite season on it.

Goodreads Blurb:

An obnoxious tech genius determined to keep everyone at arm’s length. The shy but feisty server who sees right through him. An explosive chemistry…

Genius tech millionaire Isaiah Harper, better known as “Crazy Isaiah,” alienates everyone he encounters with his abrasive personality. Not that he cares. Until he meets his match during a run-in with the feisty server at his family’s restaurant in small-town Journey’s End.

Alyssa Banks knows she needs to make some life changes and stop acting like a doormat. But she never expected her big moment to come while nose-to-nose with intriguing Isaiah Harper, who doesn’t strike her as crazy. At all…

A book you want to read but think it might be overhyped.

Goodreads Blurb:

One year ago, recent Portland transplant Ellie Oliver had her dream job in animation and a Christmas Eve meet-cute with a woman at a bookstore that led her to fall in love over the course of a single night. But after a betrayal the next morning and the loss of her job soon after, she finds herself adrift, alone, and desperate for money.

Finding work at a local coffee shop, she’s just getting through the days—until Andrew, the shop’s landlord, proposes a shocking, drunken plan: a marriage of convenience that will give him his recent inheritance and alleviate Ellie’s financial woes and isolation. They make a plan to spend the holidays together at his family cabin to keep up the ruse. But when Andrew introduces his new fiancée to his sister, Ellie is shocked to discover it’s Jack—the mysterious woman she fell for over the course of one magical Christmas Eve the year before. Now, Ellie must choose between the safety of a fake relationship and the risk of something real.

A book with an astronomical word in the title (sun, moon, star, sky etc.)

A book with a favorite trope in it.

I like royal characters.

Goodreads Blurb:

Lifestyle blogger Serena Raines is used to giving advice on how to “live your best life”, but finds herself alone and devastated when her fiancé leaves her. Not ready to share the news of her breakup with her family, she goes into hiding for Christmas alone at a luxurious beach house.

European royal Sandro Leone refuses to let his friends spend Christmas alone, so he rents a house for them to share—and finds a strange and lovely woman already there.

Serena fights a fierce attraction to the charming playboy prince. Things get worse when a surprise winter storm prevents his friends from arriving and leaves them stranded—together

A book that you want to read but are not a fan of the cover.

Goodreads Blurb:

Fresh off a divorce from a Hollywood hotshot, Madison Atwood needs an escape. With the paparazzi fresh on her heels and her love life splashed on every tabloid, she runs away to a swanky retreat in Northern California. Avalon Springs is the mountainside haven she needs to find herself again.

Luke Dawson lives off the grid, preferring solitude to society. When he finds a beautiful woman soaking in the hot springs on his property, he can’t stop himself from watching her. She captures his attention, but she’s just a city girl—a beautiful distraction disturbing the peace he’s settled here to find.

When Madison discovers Luke’s secluded cabin, he can’t turn her away again. They make no promises. Madison needs to feel wanted again, and Luke misses the touch of a woman. But when mother nature has other plans, they’re forced to spend more than a night of passion together. Can Luke say goodbye to the only woman who’s made him feel anything in years, and can Madison leave behind the man who brought her back to life?

Use a random number generator to find a number between 0 and 9 and find a book that ends in that page number.

The number I picked was four, and the edition I have of One Last Step Tara Mills Mystery #1 by Sarah Sutton is 194 pages.

Goodreads Blurb:

Two hikers go missing along the Appalachian Trail, leaving only a bloodstained forest behind them, and when another hiker collapses on someone’s porch in New Hampshire, murdered by crossbow, the local police realize they have a serial killer on their hands––and need to call in the FBI.

FBI Agent Tara Mills is young, brilliant and new to the force. With a promising career in front of her, she faces the ultimate test when she is assigned the case. It soon proves to be more challenging than she ever could have imagined––an impossible riddle that leaves even her seasoned partner stumped.

Meanwhile, something about the case stirs a darkness within her––a tortured past that even her long-term boyfriend doesn’t fully understand. As nightmares consume her, she only hopes that her past will not come back to ruin her once again.

As more hikers go missing, and with her job on the line, Tara finds herself on a race against time as she combs through the forest’s trails. Peeling back each layer, she soon realizes that she is up against a true diabolical mastermind. And just when she thinks she has it all figured out, her instincts lead her to the most shocking truth of all.

Start a new series.

Goodreads Blurb:

Having suffered a devastating loss on Christmas Eve almost a year ago, all Sophie Baxter is looking for is a little bit of peace and quiet while she gets her beloved grandmother’s cottage ready to be sold. Escaping the rat-race of London for Peakton seems like the perfect way to avoid the Christmas celebrations for Sophie, especially when the tiny Derbyshire village holds so many fond childhood memories for her.

The last thing she expects is to be faced with her teenage crush, Andy Martin, who stirs up feelings in her she never thought possible.

But just when Sophie is considering a future with Andy, something comes between them which could destroy their new found happiness.

The Santa Clauses

Notes: As an audiobook, I have Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner. As for an ebook, I can pick any book from my kindle, and the only one I can’t do is the 500 pages book because I don’t have one right now.
