April 20th: Surprising Reads
Every book comes with its surprises, but there are some that surprise us more than others! Maybe that cover buy had more to it than just a pretty cover. Or maybe that blurb didn’t sound all that exciting until you started reading it. Let’s hear it! What are some books that have surprised you in how much you enjoyed it?
I was going to leave writing this post for tomorrow since it is 10:43 pm on a Saturday, and it might sound crazy that thinking of novels that surprised caused so many emotions. As a reader, my views change from that of the writer, and I see books as my travel soulmate, but I get the rawest of feelings when I let people in with my words. So, I have a good understanding of a reader but also that of an author. Then comes my taste twists and mixes everything.
I was so excited about the Murder in the Mix series that I might have set my bar too high.
I loved Ashley Herring Blake’s writing when she writes middle grade, but I don’t feel the same when it comes to her adult fiction.
I went into thinking that The Prophets by Robert Jones Jr. would be super religious, but I was pleasingly surprised with how melodic and poetic it was.
Facing West (Forever Wilde #1) by Lucy Lennox and Touch Up (Rose & Thorns #2) by Katey Hawthorne, J.A. Rock surprised me because I wasn’t excepting so much chemistry between the two main characters.
