Pet Therapy

When I was 9 months, my mum would put me in a sitting position, and I would fall backwards. At the age of 3, I had my first major surgery since both my hipbones were dislocated. After surgery, my body kept spasming, and my hips came out of their place yet again. Which caused my hospital stay to be 3 months long. During that time, anything or no one could cheer me up.

So, my aunt grabbed a handbag put some holes in it, making it a DIY pet carrier, keeping in mind that at the time, dogs weren’t in the hospital. Luckily my Chihuahua was pretty smart, so when my aunt told him to stay put, he didn’t make a noise. This is how she snuggled him in my hospital room, and when he heard the nurse coming, he hid under my blanket.

22 years later, I still remember that day as if it happened yesterday. So when I saw a video on YouTube of unusual aminals used as service animals to humans and other animals alike. I knew I had to share it with you. So, here is the list:

  1. My mom worked at a gym for more than a decade. One time a woman brought in her therapy rabbit, but no one knew that was possible and they sent her out because the rabbit could get hurt (which, honestly, makes sense to me given she was going to lift weights). The entire office had to have sensitivity training after she told on them, haha!

I think what needed to happen was some staff member should have kept hold of the rabbit.

    1. I had days where I had to talk my dog with me to the doctor. At times it is the only thing that keeps my anxiety at bay
