I’m the kind of blogger who tries to embrace the differences in cultures and sharing the world we live in with others. I honestly believe that can help someone have a better day just by listening to them. Which is why we have one mouth and two ears. So, for today’s post and Christmas day’s post, I’m sharing with you Christmas traditions around the world.
The Giant Lantern Festival
It takes place in the Philippines every Saturday before Christmas Eve. Where Eleven barangays (villages) take part in the festival and competition is fierce as everyone pitches in trying to build the most elaborate lantern.
Krampus, Austria
I found Santa’s evil partner, no I’m not joking in Austria. They have a tradition where Krampus (a beast-like demon creature) goes around the streets to pick the misbehaving kids. In the first week of December, young men dress up as the Krampus (especially on the eve of St. Nicholas Day) frightening children with clattering chains and bells. Not going to lie this tradition creeps me out.
Kentucky Fried Christmas Dinner, Japan
Like America, most of Europe has turkey for the main dish of Christmas dinner. However, in Japan, they do it a little different having their main dish being Kentucky fried chicken. Now since I’m a pescatarian, my main dish tends to be so kind of pasta.

It’s not a Christmas tradition, but a lot of Christians celebrate St. Nicholas Day in early December by leaving shoes outside the door for St. Nicholas to fill with candy and treats!
