December 22: Books I Hope Santa Brings

You know what I’m taking things in my own hands and pick ten 2020 releases and go on the hunt to get myself a copy.

Here are some middle-grade reads that I haven’t got to by black authors

Maya and the Rising Dark (Maya and the Rising Dark #1) by Rena Barron is own voices and gives me Rick Riordan vibes.

I have been keeping my eyes out for this book since it came out today, I looked on the site Mobilism and found links but my dream was short-lived because the links were dead.

Next book I want to look into is Dear Justyce since the first book in this series Dear Martin was 5 stars for me.

Another book I was on the lookout for, however, I couldn’t find anywhere, but today I did so I’m going to read it. I’m sure it will be a powerful read. It talks about social justice and race.

Early on this year, I read Opposite of Always by the same author and I haven’t made up my mind if I like the author’s writing style.

I couldn’t find this one, but I love Jewell Parker Rhodes and recommend you guys read her books.

I have been trying to dip my toes in the fantasy and science fiction, and this book caught my eye, but I haven’t heard anything about it.

So here is what happened when I was looking for The Only Black Girls in Town by Brandy Colbert but then I found The Voting Booth by the same author, so I’m happy.

I was jumping for joy (that is if I could jump) when I found a copy of Isaiah Dunn Is My Hero by Kelly J. Baptist. It is listed under poetry, but I have a feeling that it is a novel in verse.

I strongly encourage you to read own voices and diversity books.
