We meet twins, Audrey and Clare and yes, they might be twins, but they’re not born on the same day and they can opposite on most days. Both are grieving the death of their brother. On top of that, one of them is dealing with mental health issues, and the other is dealing with gender issues. I could relate to both of them, which surprised me.

I do love an incredible self-discovery journey. I was so happy that there is a gender-fluid main character, we need more of them in books. Something else that filled my heart with joy was how supportive the parents were. The kind of parents that every queer kid needs to have.

What confused me was that this novel reads like a middle grade, but their friends in the same age group are driving and stuff. I liked the fact that it showed both sides of the coin of being online. It felt real, not fiction, which is why I gave 5 stars. I’m not going to lie Under Shifting Stars by Alexandra Latos might end up in my top 10 list of books I read in 2020. I guess I have a sweet spot for twins in books.
