Pose is a Netflix series that I recently binged-watched. To be honest, when I watched the trailer I didn’t really get this series so if you feel like me from watching the trailer just give it a shot. Pose is set in the ’90s in New York City. Sadly back then, HIV and STDs were ubiquitous among the LGBT+ community, which makes it realistic. Between the balls to people living on the street.
The cast of Pose is mostly trans/queer on screen and real life, which made me feel represented and made me feel that my life and voice matter. It taught me the biggest lesson of all that my lgbt+ community will always be there to be my needed friend and my chosen family no matter what my letter is.
