Openly Straight (Openly Straight #1) by Bill Konigsberg

In “Openly Straight” Rafe the main character came out of the closet as gay. However, as he moved schools, he went back to being closeted. I had mix feelings about this book at the beginning. Being out of what I call the queer closet is so freeing so I couldn’t wrap around my head the reason of why. On the other hand, I started to understand that at times you get tired of the labels that the world gives you and you just want to be normal whatever that normal means to you. So while reading the book, I came to an understanding of what it was like to act straight for him it didn’t feel great from what I read.
